AN ORDINANCE.
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE A.CONTRACT WITH INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER
COMPANY FOR THE.PURCHASE OF TWO (2) FIRE TRUCK
CHASSIS; AND PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING AND COLLECT-
ING OF THE TAX NECESSARY TO PAY THE INTEREST AND
CREATE A SINKING FUND TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL ON THE
PURCHASE PRICE.OF SAID .CHASSIS.
WHEREAS., on November 27,, 1962, The City of Beaumont received
bids for furnishing two (2) cab and chassis trucks for the Fire.De-
partment upon which to mount 750 G.P.M. Pumping Units; and,
WHEREAS., International Harvester .Company submitted a bid
in the sun of $11,793.48 for furnishing the two (2) said chassis;
and,
WHEREAS., the City Council is of the opini-on.that the bid
submitted by International Harvester Company is the lowest and best
bid and should be accepted and contract entered into with said com-
pany for said chassis; and,
WHEREAS, the purchase price of the two (2) said chassis will
be paid with a time warrant payable two (2) years after date of
issuance and bearing interest at the rate of 3% per annum, issued by
The City of Beaumont pursuant to authority granted by the -Constitu-
tion and Statutes of the State of Texas;
NOW, THEREFORE, DE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
TEXAS:
Section 1.
That A. K. Steinheimer, City Manager, be, and he is hereby,
authorized to execute the contract with International Harvester Com-
pany,, dated December 4, 1962, for furnishing two (2) International
Fire Truck Chassis for the sum of $11,793.48.
Section 2.
That for the purpose of paying the.interest on said purchase
price and to create a sinking fund to pay the principal on same, a
sufficient tax on each One Hundred ($100.00) Dollar valuation of all
taxable propertyl7in The City of Beaumont, Texas, shall be annually

levied on said property and annually assessed and collected and
applied to the purpose named.

1962.
