INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
CITY OF BEAUMONT TEXAS
Date: August 10, 1962
To: Mr. A. K. Steinheimer, City Manager
From: Anthony G. Brocato, Assistant City Attorney
Subject: Quitclaim Deed to Lot 8, Block 4, of the Clay Morris Addition.
COMMENT:
Nola White has requested a Quitclaim Deed to the above
property from the City to Albert Wilson.
In 1944 the City obtained foreclosure of a tax lien up-
on this property and in 1945 purchased the property at Sheriff's
sale and obtained a Sheriff's.Deed to the property, which is -.on
record in the County Clerk's -office. In 1945 the property was
taken off the tax rolls. In the City Clerk's Ordinance Minutes
there is recorded an Ordinance dated March 105 1948, authorizing
a Quitclaim Deed of this property from the City to Albert Wilson
for the sum of $210.00.
There is no record of this Quitclaim in the County Clerk's
;office and Mr. White cannot locate it. This is the reason he has
requested a new Quitclaim.
We have no way of being, absolutely certain that the sale
of this property to Wilson, authorized in 1948, was ever con-
sumatedg however, the property was placed back on the tax roll
in 1948 and the delinquent tax office lists this property as
property which the City "sold" after obtaining it at tax sale,
and these two facts indicate to us that the sale was completed
and the instrument lost or misplaced.
If the Council sees fit to have a Quitclaim to this prop-
erty executed, they may authorize this by passing the Ordinance
attached and having the Mayor sign the ,Quitclaim Deed attached.
