AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE VACATING AND ABANDONING AN
ALLEY RUNNING EAST TO WEST FROM SAN JACINTO STREET
TO FOURTH STREET, THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF BLOCK 20,
WEST CARTWRIGHT ADDITION TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, FULLY DESCRIBED HEREIN.
WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the City Council
of The City of Beaumont, signed by the owners of all of the property
abutting the alley running east to west from San Jacinto Street to
Lafayette Street (now Fourth Street), through the middle of Block 20,
West Cartwright Addition to The City .of Beaumont, Jefferson County,
Texas, as shown by the map or plat of said Addition as recorded in
Vol. 69, at pages 459 through 462, Deed Records of Jefferson County,
Texas, requesting that said alley be vacated and abandoned; and,
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council that it is to the
best interest of The City of Beaumont and benefit to the public that
the above described alley be vacated and abandoned;
NOW, THEREFORE., .BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
TEXAS:
That the alley running East to West from San Jacinto Street to Lafay-
ette Street (now Fourth Street) through the middle of Block 20, West
Cartwright Addition to The City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas,
as shown by the map or plat of said Addition as recorded in Vol. 69,
at pages 459 through 462, Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas, be,
and the same is hereby, vacated and abandoned, and that title to said
vacated and abandoned alley shall revert to and become the property
of the parties entitled thereto, as provided by law; provided, however,
that the vacating and abandoning of said alley shall not be construed
as abandoning and shall in no way affect the alley running North to
South from College Street to Washington Street,(now Gilbert Street)
through the middle of Block 20, Cartwright Terrace Addition to The
City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as shown by the map or plat
of said Addition of record in Book 3, Page 147 of the Map Records of

as shown by the map or -plat of said Addition as recorded in Vol. 69 p
at pages 459 through 462, Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas, be,
and the same is hereby, vacated and abandoned, and that title to said
vacated and abandoned alley shall revert to and become the property
Of the parties entitled thereto, as provided by law; provided, however,
that the vacating and abandoning of said alley shall not be construed
as abandoning and shall in no way affect the alley running North to
South from College Street to 11ashington Street.(now Gilbert Street)
