AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 37--58 OF
THE CODE. OF ORDINANCES OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS; REGU-
LATING THE SPEED OF VEHICLES UPON CERTAIN STREETS
AND PORTIONS OF STREETS AS DESCRIBED HEREIN; RE-
PEALING SECTION 37--59 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS; PROVIDING A PENALTY; PROVID-
ING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
1.
That Section 37.-58 of the Code of' Ordinances of Beaumont,
Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended to read as follows:

"Section 37-58. Same -- Changed in certain zones.
"It is hereby determined tpgQ3i. the basis of an en-
gineering and traffic investigation that the speed
permitted by state law upon the streets or portions
thereof described in the schedule below is greater
in some cases and less in some cases than is reason
able or safe under the conditions found to exist
upon such streets or portions thereof, and it is
hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit up-
on those streets or portions thereof described in
the schedule below shall be as therein stated, when
signs are erected giving notice thereof.
SCHEDULE.
"In accordance with this section, and when signs
are erected giving notice thereof, the prima facie
speed limit shall be as set forth in this schedule,
at all times, upon those streets or portions there-
of specified herein:

That Section 37-59 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont,
Texas, be, and the same is hereby repealed.

That any person who violates any -provision of this ordi.-
nance.shall., upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section
1.-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.

That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordinance or the application of same to a particular set
of persons or circumstances should for'any reason be held to be in-
valid, such invalidity -shall in no wise affect the -remaining por.-
tionsof this ordinance, and to such end various portions and pro-
visions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.

That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
