ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING GULF STATES
UTILITIES COMPANY TO PLACE IN EFFECT REVISED
RATE SCHEDULE 501, STREET LIGHTING SERVICE
(MERCURY VAPOR LAMPS) EFFECTIVE AS TO SERVICE
RENDERED BY SUCH COMPANY ON AND AFTER APRIL
15, 1961.
WHEREAS, Gulf States Utilities Company on June 6 , 1961, has
requested authority to substitute Revised Schedule 501 for the then currently
effective Schedule 501. Such Revised Schedule has been filed with the City
Clerk of the City of Beaumont, and approved by the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, TEXAS
Section 1.
That Gulf States Utilities Company is hereby authorized to place into effect
as to service rendered by it on and after April 15, 1961,to its customers
located in Beaumont, Texas, Revised Schedule 501, which Revised Schedule has
heretofore been filed by Gulf States Utilities Company with the City of
Beaumont and Gulf States Utilities Company is further authorized to discon-
tinue, upon said Revised Schedule being placed in -effect, its previously
effective Rate Schedule 501.
Section 2.
That nothing in this ordinance contained shall be construed in any manner
now or hereafter limiting or modifying the right and power of the City
Council under the law to regulate the rates charged by Gulf States Utilities
Company for its services within the City of Beaumont.

STREET LIGHTING SERVICE
(Mercury Vapor Lamers)
I. APPLICABILITY
This rate is applicable under the regular terms and conditions of the Company to Customers who con-
tract for the operation of mercury vapor Street Lighting Systems as specified in Section IL
11. TYPE OF SERVICE
Lights to be burned all night every night; approximately 4000 hours per year. This rate includes the in-
stallation, maintenance, energy supply and control by the Company of street light fixtures and lamps. Fix-
tures to be of standard bracket type with one lamp per fixture on standard wood poles.

* The 15,000 Lumens light is obsolete and not available for new installations.
IV. FUEL ADJUSTMENT
The bill for any monthly portion of the annual rate will be increased or decreased at the rate of 0.0130
per kwhr per 1¢ corresponding variation in the average cost of fuel above 14.50 per million BTU or below 13.50
per million BTU during the preceding month. The resulting adjustment per kwhr will be rounded off to the
nearest whole multiple of 0.0010. The average cost of fuel will be determined on the basis of units generating
electric energy only, excluding the special generating facilities to furnish the requirements of the steam prod-
ucts customers.
The energy used during each month for each street light will be estimated as one twelfth of an an-
nual use of 4,000 hrs. at rated wattage of the type of lamp involved.
V. TAX ADJUSTMENT
The monthly bill will be adjusted for any new or increased taxes on revenue, load and/or energy or
which otherwise can be directly allocated to the service hereunder, levied on or after January 1, 1958.
