AN ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION
AND DELIVERY OF A QUIT CLAIM DEED.
Preamble
WHEREAS, on the 20th day of January, 1936, Mrs. A. Batiste,
City Tax Collector for the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County,
Texasc by a tax deed of record in Vol. 409, page 47 of the Deed
Records of Jefferson County, Texas, did by tax deed convey to
the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, the following
described property, to -wit:
and
Lot Six (6), Block "G", of the Pennock Potts
Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas, as per a map or plat of said
Addition of record in the Office of the
County Clerk of said.County and State,
WHEREAS, Lonnie William Waters and wife, Vera Waters,
who are possessing and occupying said premises, as well as
having paid all of the taxes due the City of Beaumont to date,
and
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont has no other interest in
the said property other than to keep it on the tax rolls, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont is of
the opinion that such sale is for the best interest of the City
of Beaumont and should be consummated.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: That,,the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Beaumont,
a quit claim deed conveying to Lonnie William Waters and wife,

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: That the City of Beaumont,
a municipal corporation of Jefferson County, Texas, acting herein
by and through its Mayor and City Clerk, hereunto duly authorized
by Ordinance of the City Council, a copy of which Ordinance is
attached hereto and marked "Exhibit A", for and in consideration
of the sum of One ($1.00) Dollar, and other valuable considerations,
in hand paid by Lonnie"William Waters and wife, Vera Waters, the
receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and confessed, has quit-
claimed and by.these presents does quitclaim unto the said Lonnie
William Waters and wife, Vera Waters, all of the right, title,
interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in and
to the following described property, to -wit:
Lot Six (6), Block "G" of the Pennock Potts
Addition to the City of.Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas, per map or plat of said
Addition of record in the Office of the
County Clerk of said County and State,
and further reference is here made to the deed to said property
from the Tax.Collector of the South Park Independent.School
District to the South Park Independent School District, dated
the llth day of December, 1936, recorded in Vol. 408, page 152
of the Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas, with all and
singular the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of
the City of Beaumont in and to.the hereditaments and appurtenances
thereto belonging or in anywise pertaining.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above released right, title, interest,
claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont unto the said

Lonnie William Waters and wife, Vera Waters, their heirs and
assigns, forever, so that the said City of Beaumont will have
no further right, title, interest, claim, estate or demand in
and to said property by reason of the above referred to Sheriff's
deed.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, the City of Beaumont has caused
this instrument to be executed by its Mayor and City Clerk and
its seal to be affixed hereto this, the day of
, A.D., 1961.

appeared CLIFFORD H. LeBLANC, Mayor of the City of Beaumont,
Texas, known to me to be the person whose name is subscribed
to the foregoing instrument, and acknowledged to me that he
executed the same as the act and deed of the City of Beaumont,
for the purposes and consideration therein expressed and in the
capacity therein stated.

COMMENT
Attached is -an Ordinance authorizing the execution
of the quitclaim deed attached hereto.
This property was purchased by the City at a tax
sale and later the taxes were paid, and this is a deed con-
veying what interest we have in the property. This is more
or less a routine matter where we have obtained title to
property through tax sales.
