AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED. AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING,
ASSESSING AND COLLECTING OF AD VALOREM AND OTHER
TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1960 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING
THE GENERAL OPERATING EXPENSES OF THE. CITY OF BEAU-
MONT, AND PROVIDING A SINKING FUND TO MEET THE PAY-
MENT OF ALL BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT AND THE PAYMENT -OF ACCRUING INTEREST THERE-
ON; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF OCCUPATION TAX, AND
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS.:
Section 1.
That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be
assessed and collected for the year 1960, for municipal purposes only,
an ad valorem tax of One Dollar and Seventy-two Cents ($1.72) on each
One Hundred Dollars? worth of property located within the present city
limits of The City of Beaumont made taxable by law, which said taxes
when collected shall be for the purpose hereinafter set forth as fol-
lows, to wit:
For the General Fund $1.30
For the purpose of paying the accru_
ing interest and to provide a sisik.Ag
fund for the payment of the entire
bonded indebtedness of The City of
Beaumont .42
Section 2.
That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall be
collected on all occupations and callings on which an occupational tax
is levied by the State of Texas, a sum equal to one half of the amount
so levied by the State of Texas,.on each respective occupation or call-
ing in The City of Beaumont.
Section 3.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or porgy
tion of this ordinance is for.any reason held invalid or unconstitu-
tional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such section, subsection,
sentence, clause, phrase, or portion shall be deemed a separate dis-
tinct and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the
validity of the remaining portions thereof..
