ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING'FOR THE LEVYING.,
ASSESSING AND COLLECTING OF AD VALOREM AND OTHER
''TAXES FOR THE YEAR'1958 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING
THE GENERAL OPERATING EXPENSES OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, AND -PROVIDING A SINKING' FUND TO MEET THE
PAYMENT OF ALL BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT AND THE PAYMENT OF ACCRUING INTEREST
THEREON; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF OCCUPATION
TAX, AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE.
BE 'IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
Section 1.
That there- shall':;be and - is hereby levied and shall. ' be as-
sessed and collected for -the .year 19581 for municipal purposes only,
an ad valorem'tax.of One Dollar and Seventy-two Cents ($1.72) on
each One Hundred:Dollars',worth of.propert.y located within the pres-
ent ;city limits of The City of Beaumont made taxable.by law, which
said taxes when.'+collected shall be for the purpose hereinafter seta
forth as follows,. to wit:
For the -General Fund $1.26
For the,purpose of paying the
accruing interest and to provide a
sinking fund for the payment of the
entire.b.onded indebtedness of The
City of.Beaumont .46
Section 2.
That there shall be and -is hereby levied and there shall -be
collected on all.occupations and callings on which an occupational
tax is levied by the State of -Texas, a sum equal to one half of the
amount so.levied by the'.State of Texas,.on-each respective occupation
or calling in The City of Beaumont.
Section 3.:
;If any section,, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or por-
tion of this ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitu-
tional by any court of competent,jurisdiction, such section, subsec-
tion, sentence,`clause', phrase or portion' shall be deemed a separate,
distinct and.independent provision and such holding shall not affect
the validity of the remaining portions thereof.
