PREAMIBLE '.Nhereas, on the 12th day of October, A.D., 1939, the City of Beaumont -recovered a tax judgment against P;i. L. Kennison, Bertha `;ebb Lewis, Alfred Lewis, V;;ill H. 'febb and Benjamin J. Smith and the foreclosure of a tax lien upon the following described property, to-vJi t: Lot 21, in Block 1, of the 1.7illard 1st Addition to the City of Beau:ront, Jefferson County, Texas, as per map or flat of said addition of record in the office of then County Clerk, Jefferson County, Texas;. and, Whereas, on the 2nd day of April A.D., 1940, the City of Beaumont purchased said above described property at public auction in satisfac- tion of said judgment and tax lien; and; Whereas, on the 2nd day of April, A.D., 1940, '7%. r"% Richardson, Sheriff of Jefferson County, Texas, made, executed and delivered unto. the City of Beaumont a tax deed to the above described property in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien, which deed was recorded in Vol. 574, nage 449, Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas, on the 28th day of May, A.D., 1945; and, illihereas, on the 28th day of April, A.D., 1948, Martin Lewis Kennison offered to purchase all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above described pro perty for the sum of Two Hundred Seventy-four and 57/100 (1 274..57) Dollars; and, Whereas, the City Council is of the opinion that such sale is for the best interest of the City of Beaumont and should be consummated;; Now, therefore,te it ordained by the City Council of the City of Beaumont that the aforesaid offer to purchase the above cbscribed pro— perty is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Beaumont a quitclaim deed conveying unto Martin Lewis Kennison all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above described property derived by reason of said Sheriff's deed. Subject: Attached Ordinance COMMENT: a T6- R s- 17 EASE HANDLE F PLEASE APPROVE PLEASE NOTE and RETURN I FOR YOUR INFORMATION PLEASE SEE ME ` PLEASE ADVISE I YOUR FILE I have to attend some tax sales at 10 o'clock- this morning, so this is a brief statement of facts in connection with the attached deed This property teras foreclosed in 1940 against M.L.Kennison, Ir 1943 Kennison began paying toward the redemption of the n ro pe rty, and paid off and on uu_ till the time of his death about a year ago. He left this Drbpe.rty to his minor son, Martin Levis Kennison, who is about 9 or 10 years old. The child's guardian finished paying off the judgment end we are executing this deed to the boy. The recited consideration is the full amount of the judgment, plus a couple of years which subsequently became delinquent. In addition however, the taxes i<pere paid currently for most of the years since foreclosure, amounting to about $150.00.
