AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING OFFER
OF L. C. JOHNSON, ET UX, TO
PURCHASE CERTAIN PROPERTY AND
AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICERS
TO EXECUTE END DELIVER QUITCLAIM
DEED TO PURCHASER OF SAME,
PREAMBLE
f
WHEREAS, on the 21st day of March_, A.D., 1940, the City of - — -
Beau►nont recovered_ a tax judgment against Noah Hebert, Guardian
of the Estate of Alceide Johnson, minor, and A. L. Carter Lumber Co.
and the foreclosure of a tax lien upon the following described property,
to -wit:
Tract 6, Plat H, of the SDBrown Survey, City of
Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas,.as per map
or plat in the office of the Tax Assessor and
Collector of the City of Beaumont, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, on the 6th day of April, A.D., 1943, the -City of Beau-
mont purchased said abovedescribed property at public auction in
satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien;and,
WHEREAS, on the 6thday of April, A.D. 1943; W. W. Richardson,
Sheriff of Jefferson County, Texas, made,'e xecuted and delivered unto
the City of Beaumont a tax deed to the above.described property in
satisfaction of said jpdgment and tax lien, which deed was recorded in
Vol. 528, page 324, Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas, on the
17th day of May, A.D., 1943; and,
WHEREAS, on the 19th day of March, A.D., 1948, L. C. Johnson and
Virginia Johnson offered to purchase all 'of the right, title, interest,
claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above-described
property for the sum of Four Hundred Sixty-two and 33/100 ($462.33)
Dollars; and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission is of the opinion that such sale is
for the best interest of the City of Beaumont and should be consummated:
Now, therefore, be it ordained by the City Commission of the City
of Beaumont that the aforesaid offer to purchase the above described
property is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Beaumont
a quitclaim deed conveying unto L. C. Johnson and Virginia Johnson all
of the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of
Beaumont in the above described property derived by reason of said
Sheriff's deed,

with all and singular the right, title, interest, claim$ estate and
demand of -the City of Beaumont 'in and to the hereditaments' and appur.
tenan-ces thereto belonging_ or in -anywise pertaining.
To'have and to hold the above released right, title,, interest,
claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont unto the said L. G.
Johnson and Virginia Johnsons their heirs and assiSnsj forever, so
that the said City of Beaumont will have no further right, title, interestj
claim, estate or demand in and to said property by reason of the above
referred to Sheriff's deed4
In testimony whereof, the City of Beaumont hascaused this instru-
ment to be executed by its Mayor and City Clerk and its seal to be
affixed hereto this, the day of A.D.9 1948.
