AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING OFFER
OF H. C. TAPPEN M PURCHASE
CERTAIN PROPERTY AND AUTHORI-
ZING PROPER CITY OFFICERS TO
EXECUTE AND DELIVER QUITCLAIM
DEED TO PURCHASER OF SAME.
Preamble
Whereas, on the 20th day of September A.D. , 1945, in
Cause No. 26539 on the Tax Docket of the 60th District Court of
Jefferson County, Texas, styled the City of Beaumont vs Burley Thomas.,
the City of Beaumont, as Plaintiff, recovered judgment for the sum of
Sixty-five and 29/100 ($65.29) Dollars, and the South Park Indepen-
dent School District, as Intervenor, recovered judgment for the sum
of Twenty-three and 67/100 ($23.67) Dollars, together with the fore --
closure of their respective tax liens upon the following described
property, to -wit:
Lot Three (3) in Block F, of the Pennock & Potts
Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County,
Texas, as per map and plat of said Addition of
record in the office of the County Clerk of Jeffer-
son County, Texas; and,
Whereas, on the 1st day of November, A.D. , 1945, the City of
Beaumont, for itself and as Trustee for the South Park Independent
School District, purchased said abovedescribed property at public
auction in satisfaction of said judgments and tax liens; and,
Whereas, on the 17th day of December, A.D., 19451 W. W. Richard-
son, Sheriff of Jefferson County, Texas, made, executed and delivered
unto the'City of Beaumont, for itself and as Trustee for the South
Park Independent School District, a tax deed to the above described
property in satisfaction of said judgments and tax liens, which deed
was recorded in Vol. 599, page 601 of the Deed Records of Jefferson,
County, Texas; and,
Whereas, on the 6th day of January, A.D. , 1947, H. C. Tappen
offered to purchase all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate
and demand of the City of Beaumont and the South Park Independent
School District in the above described property for the sum of One
Hundred Six and 09/100 ($10.)6.09) Dollars; and,
Whereas, the City Commission is of the opinion that such sale

is for the best interest of the City of Beaumont and should be consum-
mated;
Now, therefore, be it ordained by the City Commission of the
City of Beaumont: That the aforesaid offer to purchase the above
described property is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are
hereby authorized to execute and.deliver on behalf of the City of
Beaumont and the South Park Independent School District a quitclaim
deed conveying unto H. C. Tappen all of the right, title, interest,
claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont and the South Park.
Independent School District in the above described property derived
by reason of said Sheriff's deed.

That the City of Beaumont,. a municipal corporation, for itself and
as Trustee for the South Park Independent School District, acting -herein
by and through its Mayor and City Clerks hereunto duly authorized by
Ordinance of the City Commission, a certified copy of which Ordinance .is
attached hereto and marked "Exhibit A", for and in consideration of the
sum of One

the City of
Beaumont by H. C. Tappen, the receipt of which is hereby acknow-
iedged and
confessed, has quitclaimed and by -these presents does quitclaim
unto the said
H. C. Tappen all of the right., title, interest, claim, estate
and demand
of the City of Beaumont and the South Park Independent School
District in
and to the following described property, to -wit:
Lot Three (3), Block F. in the Pennock and Potts
Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County,

Texas,. a per map and plat of said Addition on
record in the office -of the County Clerk of Jefferson
County, Texas; and further reference is here made to
the deed to said property from Burley Thomas by Sheriff'
to the City of Beaumont, recorded in Vol. 599, page 601,
Deed Records or Jefferson County, Texas,
with all and singular the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand
of the City of Beaumont and the South Park Independent School District in
and to -the hereditaments and appurtenances thereto belonging or in anywise
pertaining.
To have and to hold the abovereleased right, title, interest, claim,
estate and demand of the City of Beaumont and the South Park Independent
School District unto the said H. C. Tappen, his heirs and assigns forever,
so that the sail City of Beaumont and the South Park -Independent School
Di strict will have no further right, title, interest, claim, estate or
demand,. -,in -and to'; said property by reason of the above referred to Sheriff's
deed.
In testimony -vi hereof, the City of -Beaumont-, for -itself- dnd -as Trustee
for the South. Parti 'Independent School District, has caused this. instrument
to be executed. by: its Mayor and City Clerk and its seal to be affixed hereto
