An Ordinance Accepting Offer of George Lewis
to Purchase certain property and authorizing
proper city officers to execute and deliver
quitclaim deed to purchaser of same:
Preamble
Whereas, on the 21st day of March, A.D. 1945, the City of
Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against E. J. Jenkins and the
unknown heirs and legal representatives of E. J. Jenkins, Deceased,
in the sum of Eighty Eight and 29/100 Dollars ($88.29), together
with interest from the date of said judgment, and costs and the
foreclosure of a tax lien upon the following described property,
to -wit:
Tract 21, Plat B-10, of the J. W. Bullock
Survey, according to the Assessor's Abstract
Book of the City of Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas; and
Whereas, on the 5th day of June, A.D. 1945, the City of Beau-
mont purchased said above described property at public auction in
satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien for the sum of One Hun-
dred Three and 41/100. Dollars ($103.41); and
Whereas,. the said tax judgment provided that the said E. J.
Jenkins and the unknown heirs and legal representatives of E. J.
Jenkins, Deceased, or anyone having an interest therein, might re-
deem said property within two (2) years from the date of sale; and

Whereas, on the 23rd day of -June, A.D. 1945,- W. W. Richardson, -
Sheriff of Jefferson County, Texas, made, exe-cuted and delivered unto
the City of Beaumont a tax deed to the above described property in
satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien, which deed was recorded
in Vol. 568 page 434, of the Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas,
on the 3rd day of August, A.D. 1945; and
Whereas, on the 26th day of August, A.D. 1946, George Lewis
offered to purchase all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate
and demand of the City of Beaumont' in the above described property
for the sum of One Hundred Six and 20/100 0106.20) Dollars; and
Whereas, the said George Lewis paid to the City of Beaumont the
sum of One Hundred Six and 20/100 Dollars (:106.20) as earnest money
in connection with said offer to purchase the above described prop-
erty; and 4
Whereas, the City Commission is of the opinion that such sale
is for the best interest of the City of Beaumont and should be con-
summat6d;
Now therefore, Be it Ordained by the City Commission of the
City of Beaumont:
That the aforesaid offer to purchase the above described prop-
erty is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Beaumont
a quitclaim deed conveying -unto George Lewis all of the right, title,
interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the
above described property derived by reason of said Sheriff's Deed,
subject to the right of redemption as provided by law.

to purchase certain property and authorizing
proper city officers to execute and deliver
quitclaim deed to purchaser of same:
Preamble
Whereas, on the 12th day of October, A.D. 1939, the City -of
Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against George C. O'Brien and
wife, Estella H. O'Brien, in the sum of Four Hundred Forty'Nine &
14/100 Dollars ($449.14), together with interest from the date of
said judgment, and costs, and the foreclosure of a tax lien upon
the following described property, to -wit:
Lots Seventy Nine .(79) and Eighty (80), in Block
Eleven (11), of the Langham Addition to the City
of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as per map
and plat of said addition of record in the office
of the County Clerk of said county; and
Whereas, on the 12th day of October, A.D. 1939, the City of
Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against George C. O'Brien and
wife, Estella H. O'Brien, in the sum of Two Hundred Fifty Nine &
27/100 Dollars ($259.27), together with interest from the date of
said judgment, and costs, and the foreclosure of a tax lien upon
the following described property, to -wit:
Lots Seventy Five (75) and Seventy Six (76), -and
.Lot "A", in Block Eight (8), of the O'Brien Addi-
tion to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County,
Texas, as per map and plat of said addition of
record in the office of the County Clerk of said
county; and
Whereas, on the 12th day of October, A.D. 1939, the City of
Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against George C. O'Brien and
wife, Estella H. O'Brien, in the sum of Seven Hundred Forty Eight
& 76/100 Dollars ($748.76), together with interest from the date of
said judgment, and costs, and the foreclosure of a.tax lien upon
the following described property, to -wit:
Lots Sixty�One (61), Sixty Two (62) and Sixty Three
(63), in Block Seven (7)9 of the O'Brien Addition
to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as
per map and plat of said addition of record in the
office of the County Clerk of said County; and
Whereas, on the 12th day of October, A.D. 1939, the City of
Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against George C. O'Brien and
wife, Estella H. O'Brien, in the sum of Two Hundred Fifty Nine &
89/100 Dollars ($259.89), together with interest from the date of
said judgment, and costs, and the foreclosure of a tax lien upon

municipal corporation of Jefferson County,. Texas, acting herein by
and through its Mayor and City Clerk, hereunto duly authorized by
Ordinance of the City Commission, a certified copy of which Ordinance
is -attached hereto and marked "Exhibit A'°, for and , in consideration
of the sum of One Hundred Six and..20j100 Dollars ,0106,-20) cash in
hand paid to the City of Beaumont by George Lewis,, the :receipt of
which is hereby acknowledged and confessed, has quitclaimed, and.
by these presents dues quitclaim unto the said George Lewis all of
the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of the City
of Beaumont in and to the following described property, to -wit;
Tract 21, Plat B.•10, of the J. W. Bullock Survay,
according to the Assessorl's Abstract Book of the
City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, and
further reference is here made to the deed to said
property from E. J. Jenkins and the. unknown heirs
and ;regal representatives of E. J. Jenkins, Deceased.,
by Sheriff, to the City of -Beaumont, recorded. in Vol.
586 page 434, Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas,
with all and singular- the .right, title,- interest, claim, estate and
demand of the City of -Beaumont in and to thea hereditaments and ap-
purtenances thereto 'belonging or in anywise pertaining.
To have and to held the above released right, title, interest,
claira,. estate and demand of the City of Beaumont unto the. said
Gsorr;e. Lewis, his heirs and assigns forever:,. so that the said City
of Beaumont :will have no further -right, title, interest,, claim,
