AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING OFFER
Tui ` OF H.. C. TAPPEN TO PURCHASE
CERTAIN PROPERTY AND AUTHORI-
ZING PROPER CITY OFFICERS TO
EXECUTE AND IELIVER QUITCLAIM
DEED TO PURCHASER OF SAME.
PREAMBLE
's7HHEREAS, on the 13th day of November A.D., 1935, the City
of Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against Jack ,Allen, or his
unknown heirs if he be dead, in the sum of Fifty-seven and 99/100
(@57.99) Dollars, together with interest from the date of said
judgment and costs and the foreclosure of a tax lien upon the
following described property, to -wit:
.All that certain tract or parcel of land out of
Block No. 9, in the subdivision of Ozan Blanchette
27; acre tract in the J. Iff. Bullock League, Jeffer-
son County, Texas, and more particularly described
as follows: Beginning at the NE corner of said
Block 9 thence ',lest along Sarah Street 132 feet
to alley; thence South along alley 54 feet; thence
East parallel with Sarah Street 132 feet to Ozan
Street; thence North along Ozan Street 54 feet to
place of beginning, as per deed of record in Vol.
113, page 297 of Deed Records of Jefferson County,
Texas, and also known as Tract 12, Plat B-12 of
the J. v% Bullock Survey, Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas, and
IVHEREAS, on the 4th day of February A.D., 1936, the City of
Beaumont purchased said above described property -at public au®tion
in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien for the sum of
Eighty-one and 86/100 0,81.86) Dollars; and,
WHEREAS, the said tax judgment provided that the said Jack
Allen, or his unknown heirs if he be'dead, or anyone having an
interest therein might redeem said property within two (2)- years
from the date of sale; and
WHEREAS, on the 11th day of February A.D., 1936, W. W.Richard-
son, Sheriff of Jefferson "ounty, Texas, made, executed and delivered
unto the City of Beaumont a tax deed to the above described pro-
perty in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien, which deed was
recorded in Vol. 413, page 395 of the Deed Records of Jefferson
County,, Texas, on the 21st day of March, A.D., 1936; and
WHEREAS, the said above described property was not redeemed by
the said Jack Allen, or his unknown heirs if he be dead, or anyone
having an interest therein within two years from the date of the
recording of said deed in the manner provided by law; and,
WHEREAS, on the 10th day of October A.D., 1946, H. C. Tappen
offered to purchase all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate
and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above described property
for the sum of Fifty-six and 79/100 ($56.79) Dollars; and
01HEREAS, the said H. C. Tappen aid to the City of Beaumont the
sum of Fifty-six and 79/100 ($56.79 Dollars as earnest money in
connection with said offer to purchase the above described property; and
147HEREAS, the City Commission is of the opinion that such sale
is for the best interest of the City of Beaumont and should be
consummated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF.THE_CITY.OF BEAUMONT:
That the aforesaid offer to purchase the above-described
property is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are
hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of
Beaumont a quitclaim deed conveying unto H. C. Tappen all of the right,
title, interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in
the above described property derived by reasonof said Sheriff's deed.

terest, claim, estate and demand of the
City of Beaumont in the above de-
scribed property for the sum of Fifty-
six and 79-100 ($56.79) Dollars; - and
WHEREAS, the said H. C. Tappen
paid to the City. of Beaumont the sum
of Fifty-six 'and 79-100 ($56.79) Dollars
as earnest money in connection with
said offer to, purchase the above de-
scribed property; - and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is
of. -the opinion that such sale is for the
best `interest of the City of Beaumont
and should be consumated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED
BY -THE CITY' COMMISSION OF
BEAUMONT:
That the aforesaid' offer to purchase
the above described Property is, hereby
