AK ORDINANCE ACCEPTING OFFER
OF HESTER PEARL ROSE DAVIS TO
PURCHASE CERTAIN PROPERTY AND
AUTHORIZING PROPER CITY OFFICERS
TO EXECUTE AND DELIVER QUIT -CLAIM
DEED TO PURCHASER OF SAME:
PREAMBLE
WHEREAS, on the 17th day of November, A.D. 19369 the
City of Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against W.F.,
Brewer in the sum of Two Hundred, Sixty-eight and 14/100
($268.14) Dollars, together with interest from the date of
said judgment and costs and the foreclosure of a tax lien
upon the following described property, to -wit:
"Being Lots seven (7), Eight (8), and.
Nine(9), in Block Seven (7), of the
Oakwood Addition to the City of Beaumont
Jefferson County, Texas, as per map or
plat of said Addition of record in the
office of the County Clerk of Jefferson
County, Texas."
and,
WHEREAS, on the 2nd day of February, A.D. 1937, the City
of Beaumont purchased said above described property at public
auction in satisfaction of -'said judgment and tax lien for the
sum .of Two -Hundred, Ninety eight and 26/100 ($298.26)--------
Dollars;

WHEREAS, the said tax judgment provided that the said
W.F.Brewer or anyone having an interest therein might redeem
said property within two (2) years from the date of sale; and,
WHEREAS, on the'llth day of March, A.D. 1937, W.W. Richard-
son, Sheriff of Jefferson County, Texas, made executed and
delivered unto the City of Beaumont•a tax deed to the above des-
cribed property in satisfaction .of said judgment and tax lien,
which deed -was recorded in Vol.427 page 562, of the Deed Records
of Jefferson County, Texas, on the 22nd day of March, A.D.,1937;
and,
WHEREAS, on the 5th day of December,A.D.,1946 Hester Pearl
Rose Davis offeted, to purchase all of the right, title, interest,
claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above
described property for the sum of Six Hundred, Seventy and 91/100
($670.91) --------Dollars; and,
WHEREAS, the said_ above described property was not redeemed
by the said W.F.Brewer or anyone having an interest therein with-
in two years from the date of the filing of said deed in the
manner provided by law; and
WHEREAS, the said Hester Pearl Rose Davis paid to the City
of Beaumont the sum of Six Hundred, Seventy and 91/100 ($670.91)
-----------Dollars as earnest.money in connection with said offer
to purchase the above described property;
WHEREAS, the City Commission is of the opinion that such
sale is for the best interest of the City of Beaumont and should
be consummated:
Now, therefore, be 'it ordained by the City Commission
of the City of Beaumont, that the aforesaid offer to pur-
chase the above described property is hereby accepted and
the. Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute
and deliver on behalf of the City of Beaumont a quitclaim
deed conveying unto Hester Pearl Rose Davis all the right,
title, interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of
Beaumont in the above described property derived by reason
of said Sheriff's deed.
