nance, providing.for the levying,- assessing and collecting of
taxes- for.- the, year- .1915;' for the purpose of providing a sinking
fund to meet _the payment of._ the bonded- indebtedness of the City of
Beaumont,. and for the accruing interest there on;)(providing for the
support of the public, schools of the city; to repair and improve
the -streets, alleys and public squares; to -met the current. ea-
pans es of the :City of Beaumont; to provide for ..the purchasing,.
constructing, maint-wining, -operating and owning the _public parks;-.

same is- hereby_ amended. so as to hereafter read as follows:"
"Section 1. That .there As hereby levied and, shall,be assessed
.and collected dor -the year 1915 the following taxes on all
property .situated within the corp.or-.ate :limits of the city of
'Beaumont, Texas, made .taxable, by law, -to=.wit :
_ -- - For-- the -purpose: of -paying general- current -expenses of the
city government,and for.T:geribral purposes, ,twenty five -cents -on
each one hundred ($100.'00) bollars;valuation.
For the support 'arid *i-ntananc ' of public free schools,
twenty -five cents on eaeh :one hu, dred (100.00) Dollars valuation.
_ -For the purpose of r epair ing and =maintaining -th-e=strettq,
alleys, public squares .and bridges of -the city, twenty three cents -
on each one .,hundre,d ($100.00) Dollars valuati'ori:
For the- -purpos.e of-- pay.ing the-.a-ccruing, interest,-andto-pro-
vide= a sinking fund for the., payment .of the 'bonded iridebte-dness :of
the 'city, thirtyy four cents and nine. mills ' (.-349) on -each one
-- hundred t$100,:00) Dollars valuaitinn.
For the pur chasing, cons truetIng , maintenance- and operating
of public parks, either. inside -or outside 'of t2 e.•.city of Beaumont,
one cent on each one hundxe d (100.00) Dollars 'valuation,.
For the pexpose, of paying the accruing interest and. to pro-
vide a sinking -fund- for. the payment of,- the bond edness of the
water -works , system, twelve cents and one mill on each one hundred
($100.00) Dollars .valuation. "
Sect ion. 2.
That all, laws- :arid parts -.of, laws in -conflict herewith be and
the same are hereby. repealed in,so far as they eonf.l&,6t with this .
ordinance.
Section 3.
Whereas,: the valuations for the .City of Beaumont have be -en
changed -so, as -"to. levy a - tax on one hundred -pet cent: of all property;
rand there is now: no :ordinance making the. property levy, -creates an.
imperative public- necessity and- emergency, neCessitating the suspen-
sion of the ru16-ze•quiring ordinances. -t -o be .read.a.t. three regular
meetings. Said rule is- therefore hereby'suspendea,an' d this ordi-
nance shall -go into for ce: and effect 'fr o . and after -its lawful
passage -and pub-lication.`

Gentlemen:
We, your Ordinance Committee, to whom was referred the at-
tached or d.i. nance , making the levy for taxes for the year 1915
on the new valuations, by amending the former tax levy ordinance,
adopted May 4th,1915, beg to report that we have duly considered.
said ordinance, and recommend that same be adopted under,a sus-
pension of the rale, requiring ordinances to be read at three
regular meetings
