ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE FINDING THE BUILDINGS
LOCATED AT 1035 ALABAMA STREET, 1495 CART-
WRIGHT STREET (GARAGE ONLY), AND 35.32 ST.
JAMES BOULEVARD TO BE A PUBLIC NUISANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:

That the City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas,
hereby finds and declares the buildings located at 1035 Alabama
Street, the same being Lot 22, Block 4, Lamar Addition (40-077-00)
to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; 1495 Cartwright
Street (Garage Only) the same being Lot 6, Block 63, Cartwright Ad-
dition (17-141-00) to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas;
and 3532 St. James Boulevard, the same being Lot 22, Block 7, West
Oakland Addition (67-156-00) to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas; each to be a public nuisance in that said buildings
are for want of. repairs, or by reason of age or dilapidated condition,
likely to cause or promote fires that would endanger persons or

In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter
of the City of Beaumont, and Section 13-20 of the Code of Ordinances
of Beaumont, Texas, and Section 103.4 of the Southern Standard Building
Code, the same having been incorporated by reference into the ordinances
of the City of Beaumont by Section 8-1 of said ordinances, it is hereby
ordered that the owner or owners of the buildings located upon the
above-described properties in the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County,
Texas, demolish and tear down within ten (10) days of the date of the
passage of this ordinance, said structures so located on the above-
described properties; and, if such action is not taken, the owners of

said buildings shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and said
buildings shall be demolished and removed at the expense of the City
of Beaumont on the account of the owner thereof; and such expense
shall be assessed as a special tax against the property upon which
said buildings are situated and a lien shall exist for such special
tax, which lien shall be foreclosed and said expense be recovered
by the City of Beaumont as in the case of any other debt and lien
in favor of the City of Beaumont.
