ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12,
SECTION 12-20 AMENDING THE POSITIONS IN THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT IN GRADES I, II AND III;
AMENDING THE BUDGET OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
FOR THE FISCAL PERIOD BEGINNING OCTOBER 1,
1976, AND ENDING Sa:)M MRFR 30, 1977, TO PRO-
VIDE THE NUMBER OF PERSONS IN EACH POSITION
-IN TBE FIRE DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING
FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That Chapter 12, Section 12-20 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Beaumont, Texas, be and the sameis hereby amended by amending
the number of positions in Grades I, II and III of the Fire Department
to read as follows:
Section 12-20 - All positions in the Fire Department of the -City
of Beaumont, Texas, are hereby classified into
the following grades, each grade having duties of
substantially similar authority, importance and
responsibility:
1. Grade I - There shall be 169 positions
in Grade I, said positions to include fire fighters.
2. Grade II - There shall be 1 position in Grade
II, said position to be the fire prevention in-
spector I.
3. Grade III - There shall be 27 positions in Grade
III, said positions to include fire captains, arson
investigators and supply officers.

That the budget of the City of Beaumont for the fiscal period
mincing October 1, 1976, and ending September 30, 1977, be, and the
same is hereby amended by changing the numbers of persons and the positions
in the Fire Department to read as follows:

Supply Officer - 1
Grade V
Deputy Chief - 3
Grade II
Fire Prevention
Inspector I - 1
Grade IV

Fire Dispatch Supervisor - 1
Training Officer - 1
Grade VI
Assistant Chief - 1
This ordinance shall be, and become effective from and after 12:01 a.m. ,
December 20, 1976.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or
circumstances, should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity
shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to
such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared
to be severable.
Section 5.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the
