ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12
SECTION 12A-6 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL
DUTIES FOR THE HOUSING BOARD OF APPEALS
RELATIVE TO RELOCATION AND CITY PROJECTS
UNDER THE UNIFORM P=,O .ATION ASSISTANCE AND
REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION POLICIES ACT OF
1970; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PRO-
VIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE:,IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That Chapter 12 Section 12A-6 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Beaumont is hereby amended by adding a new subsection 12A-6 (e)
to read as follows:
12A -6(e) - The Board shall be responsible to hear appeals
from decisions by the City Manager under the Uniform Relo-
cation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act
of 1970 in the following four (4) areas:
1. The Board shall determine eligibility for
relocation payments.
2. The Board shall determine the amount of
relocation payments.
3. The Board shall determine if comparable
housing is being offered for relocation.
4. The Board shall determine if the relocatee
is being referred to adequate replacement
housing.
In hearing appeals from decisions made by the City
Manager concerning relocation, the Board shall meet within
thirty (30) days after any application of appeal has been
received. All decisions of the Board shall be in writing
and furnished the interested parties by United States mail.

Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of
persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be invalid,
such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this
ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this
ordinance are declared to be severable.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
