ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE ISSUANCE
OF BUILDING PERMITS OTHER THAN FOR USES ALLOWED
IN AN R-1 ZONE IN A PORTION OF THE SOUTH END RE-
ZONING STUDY AREA FOR A PERIOD OF NINETY (90)
DAYS, OR UNTIL REZONING IS APPROVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL'OF THE CITY*OF BEAUMONT; PROVIDING FOR
REPEAL; AND -PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY.
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont, through its Planning Division
has commenced a rezoning study of a portion of the south part of the
city, such study known as the South End Rezoning'Study; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to maintain the status quo
in a portion of the South End Rezoning Study area for a ninety (90) day
period to allow for the completion of this study by the imposition of a
prohibition on the issuance of building permits for uses other than those
allowed in an R-1 zone; ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
1.
THAT there is hereby imposed a prohibition on the issuance of building
permits for uses other than those allowed in an R-1 zone as defined in
the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont in the area of the City
of Beaumont bounded by Washington Boulevard, Interstate 10, Cardinal
Drive and the Southern Pacific Railroad track that crosses both Washing-
ton Boulevard and Cardinal Drive. This prohibition shall be for a ninety
(90) day period from and after the passage of this ordinance, or until a
rezoning of the area defined herein is approved by the City Council,
whichever is earlier in time.
2.
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
3.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of
this ordinance or the application of same to a particular set of persons

or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such in-
validity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this ordi-
nance, and to such end the provisions of this ordinance are declared
to be severable.
