ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 32A
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT BY AMENDING SECTION 32A-1(9) TO
ADD OIL AND GAS WELLS AND OIL AND GAS FIELD
SITE OPERATIONS; AND BY AMENDING SECTION
32A-2(5) TO TRANSFER THE RESPONSIBILITY FROM
THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC UTILITIES TO THE CHIEF
PLUMBING INSPECTOR; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE'IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
1.
That Chapter 32A of the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Beaumont is hereby amended by amending Section 32A-1(9) to
read as follows:
32A-1(9): Industrial wastes shall mean all
waterborne solids or liquids resulting from
any industrial, manufacturing, food proces-
sing, oil and/or gas well and/or gas field
site operations or processes, or from the
development of any natural resource, or any
mixture of these with water or domestic waste
water.

That Section 32A-2(5) shall be amended to read as follows:
32A-2(5): Interceptors ---When required; type,
capacity, location, construction. Grease, oil,
and sand interceptors shall be provided for the
proper handling of liquid wastes, containing
grease or flammable wastes; sand and other
harmful ingredients; except that such inter-
ceptors shall not be required for premises
used exclusively as private living quarters
or dwelling units. All interceptors shall be
of a type and capacity approved by the Chief
Plumbing Inspector and shall be located as to
be readily and easily accessible for cleaning
and inspection.
Grease and oil interceptors shall be constructed
of impervious materials capable of withstanding
abrupt and extreme changes in temperature. They
shall be of substantial construction, watertight
and equipped with easily removable covers which,
when bolted in place, shall be gastight and
atertight.
3.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance or the application of same to a partic-
ular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be
held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no wise affect
the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end
the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be sever-
able.

That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
