ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14, SEC-
TION 15-16 TO PROVIDE AN INCREASE IN THE RESI-
DENTIAL RATE OF $.25 PER MONTH; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
Chapter 15 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont,
Section 15-16 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 15-16: Collection 'and Removal by the
Sanitation Department - larges or esdential

(1) The sanitation department shall systemati-
cally collect and remove garbage and trash from
premises used for residential purposes. All
residences in the city are required to pay a
garbage service fee except:
(a) Residences who haul their own garbage and
have a current inspection permit as described
in Section 15-25.
(b) Residences who use an on property disposal
method that is approved by the city, county and
state.
(c) Residences that are vacant and the water
meter is disconnected.
(2) No rate adjustments will be made for tem-
porary nonuse of service unless the water meter
is disconnected. Non payment of the garbage col-
lection fee shall be sufficient grounds for dis-
continuance of city water service. The rate for
collection outside the city limits shall be the
rates set forth in this section. No type of ser-
vice will be offered residences that are residen-
ces described in Paragraph 1 above .or for vacant
lots. Fair and reasonable charges for such resi-
dential service shall be, and are shown in terms
of dollars and cents for a calendar month as fol-
lows:
(a) Single family residence $2.50.
(b) Duplex apartment building $2.50/unit.
(c) Garage.apartment unit $2.50/unit.
(d) Two (2) family units on one meter $5.00.
(e) Group housing (three or more houses, mobile
homes, or governmental housing units, on the
same water meter, or condominium or multiple
family apartment buildings with three (3) or
more units):
1, 1974.
(e-1) Where all containers are placed in
the same location the charge for each
house, mobile home, unit or apartment
shall be $2.25.
(e-2) Where all containers are not centrally
located the charge for each house, mo-
bile home, unit or apartment shall be
$2.50.

This ordinance shall become effective from and after October
Section 3.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordinance or the application of same to a particular set of
persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid,
such invalidity shall in no wise affect the remaining portions of this
ordinance, and to such end the provisions of this ordinance are declared
to be severable.
Sec t1o'ii A.
That all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed.
