SCHEDULES OF RATES TO BE CHARGED BY UNITED GAS
CORPORATION, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, IN THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT, FOR NATURAL GAS AND NATURAL GAS
SERVICE FURNISHED BY IT, CONTAINING DEFINITIONS,
FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATES OF GAS RATES PRESCRIBED
IN THIS ORDINANCE, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT.
WHEREAS, on or about October 7th, 1952,
the United Gas Corporation completed its presenta-
tion of its application for an increase in rates
to be charged for natural gas and natural gas service
in the City of Beaumont in a public hearing accorded
to said Company; and
WHEREAS, the City Council having heard
and fully considered the evidence adduced at said
hearing recognizes that the rates now being charged
by United Gas Corporation for natural gas and natural
gas service in the City of Beaumont should be in-
creased, NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
SECTION 1_
The United Gas Corporation, its successors
and assigns, is hereby authorized to place in effect
the following schedules of rates within the corporate
limits of the City of Beaumont for the supply of
natural gas and natural gas service:

RESIDENTIAL RATES
NET MONTHLY RATE
$1.00 per month, which includes the use of 400
cubic feet
70 per 100 cubic feet for the next 5,600
cubic feet
620 per 100 cubic feet for the next 10,000
cubic feet
520 per 100 cubic feet for all additional gas used
Minimum Monthly Bill: $1.00
PAYMENT
Bills shall be rendered on a monthly basis and
are due and payable within ten (10) days from the date
of bill.
COMMERCIAL RATES
NET MONTHLY RATE
$1.20 per month, which includes the use of 400
cubic feet
7¢ per 100 cubic feet for the next 8,600
cubic feet
620 per 100 cubic feet for the next 11,000
cubic feet
520 per 100 cubic feet for the next 10,000
cubic feet
50 per 100 cubic feet for all additional
gas used
Minimum Monthly Bill: $1.20
PAYMENT
Bills shall be rendered on a monthly basis and
are due and payable within ten (10) days from the date
of bill .
The above schedules of residential rates
and of commercial rates are the highest rates that
may be charged by United Gas Corporation, its succes-
sors and assigns, for residential consumers and com-
mercial consumers within the City of Beaumont. Other
lower residential rates and commercial rates may be

fixed and determined from time to time by United
Gas Corporation, its successors and assigns, for
gas and gas service furnished to residential con-
sumers and commercial consumers.
SECTION 2.
(a) RESIDENTIAL CONSUMER. The term
"residential consumer" as herein used shall -mean a
customer or user of gas to whom service is supplied
in a single private dwelling unit and its appurten-
ances, the major use of which is for household ap-
pliances and for the personal comfort and convenience
of those residing therein.
The terms "residential consumer" and
"domestic consumer" are considered to be synonymous.
(b) COMMERCIAL CONSUMER. The term
"commercial consumer" as used herein shall mean all
customers and users of natural gas other than.
residential consumers as defined in this ordinance.
SECTION 3.
The maximum rates and charges prescribed in
this ordinance for residential consumers and commercial
consumers shall apply as maximum rates and charges to
such consumers to whom such rates are applicable on all
bills rendered for gas used on and after October 15, 1952.
SECTION 4.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of the
conflict only.

SECTION 5.
That nothing in this ordinance contained
shall be construed as in any manner, now or hereafter,
limiting or modifying the right and power of the City
Council, under the law to regulate the rates charged
by United Gas Corporation, its successors and assigns,
within the City of Beaumont.
