HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 50-XAN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING, ASSESSING AND COLLECTING OF AD VALOREM AND OTHER TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1952 FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAY- ING THE GENERAL OPERATING EXPENSES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, AND PROVIDING A SINKING FUND TO MEET THE 'FAYMENT OF ALL BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT AND THE PAYMENT OF ACCRUING IN- TEREST THEREON; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF OC- CUPATION TAX, AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: Section 1. That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected for the year 1952, for municipal purposes onl, an ad valorem tax of One Dollar and Sixty -Four Cents ($1.64T on each One Hundred Dollars worth of property located within the present city limits of The City of Beaumont, made taxable by law, which said taxes when collected shall be for the purpose here- inafter set forth as follows, to wit: For the General Fund $1.19 For the purpose of paying the accruing interest and to provide a sinking fund for the payment of the entire bonded indebted- ness of The City of Beaumont .45 Section 2. That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall be col- lected on all occupations and callings on which an occupational tax is levied by the State of Texas, a sum -equal to one half of the amount so levied by the State of Texas, on each respective occupation or calling in The City of Beaumont. Section 3. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of this Ordinance is for any reason held invalid or unconstitu- tional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such section, sub- section, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion shall be deemed a separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof. D. 1952• %j r. - Mayor - i ("_(, d P, s-0 AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE OPTIONAL PAYMENT IN INSTALLMENTS OF AD VALOREM TAXES HERE- TOFORE LEVIED FOR THE YEAR 1952; °ROVIDING FOR THE DATES SAID INSTALLMENTS MAY BE MADE, AND PRO- VIDING WHEN PENALTY AND INTEREST -SHALL ACCRUE. WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont, by Ordinance passed on the 16th day of September, A. D. 1952, levied for municipal purposes onl an ad valorem tax of One Dollar and Sixty -Four Cents ($1.644 on each One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars worth of property located within the present city limits of The City of Beaumont made taxable by law; and, WHEREAS, there has been a demand for the purpose of paying said taxes in installments; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS: Section 1. That the ad valorem taxes levied for the year 1952 for municipal purposes may be paid at the option of the taxpayer in install- ments as follows: One half (1/2) on or before December 31, 1952; One half (1/2) on or before May 31, 19530 Section 2. If the taxpayer makes the installment payment on or before the due dates mentioned in Section 1 of this Ordinance, no charge for interest or penalty shall be made by the Tax Collector. If the first installment payment is not paid prior to December 31, 1952, the full amount of the tax shall become due and payable on or before January 31, 1953• If the second installment is not paid on or before the 31st day of May, 1953, the unpaid balance shall be considered delinquent as of February 1, 1953, and pen- alty and interest as provided by law will be charged from said date.
