ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE VACATING
AND CLOSING OF TV FLFTH STREET BET11TEEN BLOCKS
THIRTY-ONE (31) A11D THIRTY -T1110 ( 3 2) OF THE JAR-
RETT ADDITION TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS.
WHEREAS, the owners of property abutting Blocks Thirty -
One (31) and Thirty-TZ%ro (32) of the Jarrett Addition'to The
City of Beaumont have requested that said portion of Twelfth
Street lying between these two.blocks be vacated and.closed;
and'.
WHEREAS, said request has been referred to the City Plan-
ning Commission for study, investigation and recommendation to
the City Council as to whether such proposal should be approved,
and the City Planning Commission has thoroughly studied and in-
vestigated said proposal and recommended to the City Council that
the approval of the proposal would be to the best interest and
benefit of the public, and that -said proposal should, therefore,
be approved; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the best interest of The City of Beau -
moat and benefit to the public that said portion of said street
be vacated and closed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAU-
MONT, TEXAS -
That Twelfth Street between Blocks Thirty -One (31) and Thirty -Two
(32) of the Jarrett Addition -to The City of Beaumont be, and the
same is hereby, authorized to be vacated and closed, and that the
title to said vacated and closed portion of said street shall re-
vert to and become the property of the parties entitled thereto,
as provided by law.
PASSED by'the City Council this 29th day,of April, A.D.
1952.

SPECIAL SESSION OF THE CITY PLANNING CO&IMISSION
HELD APRIL 2J, 1952
BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Planning Commission of the City of Beaumont, Texas,
met in special session'on the 23rd day of April, 1952, with the following present:

Minutes of,the previous meeting held April 2nd were approved on motion made by
C. E. Holland and seconded by Miss McClusky. The motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Geo. Schaumburg appeared before the Commission and requested final approval
for Rothwell Estates - Unit 1.
Motion was made by Leonard Stone and seconded by C. E. Holland that final approval
be given Rothwell Estates - Unit 1. The motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Geo. Schaumburg requested preliminary approval of Blocks 1 and 2 of Thornwood
Addition.
A brief discussion followed the request during which City Engineer Martin pointed
out that the minimum requirement for.streets is 60" and that Trinidad Street as
shown on the plat would be only 47.3'.
Mr. Schaumburg said he could.see no objection to taking the center line of the
street and going back 301, which, after right-of-way was dedicated on the other
side of Trinidad Street, would give the required 60' street.
Motion was made by C. E. Holland and seconded by Fl,rence McCluskey that pre-
liminary approval be given to the plat of Blocks 1 and 2 of Thornwood Addition
with the provision that the lots facing on Trinidad Street be cut back to 30'
from the center of Trinidad Street. The motion carried unanimously.

Chairman Holland stated that he had received a request .from St. Anne's Church
that the Planning Commission ree-mend to the City Council that 12th Street be
closed between Blocks 31 and 33.of the Jarrett Addition.
After E brief discussion, motion was made by Leonard Stone and seconded by C. E.
Holland that recommendation be made to the City .Council that 12th Street be
closed from the Missouri Pacific tracks to Liberty Street. The motion carried
unanimously.

Mr: George Camp, representing the Housing Authority of the City of Beaumont,
appeared before the Commission with the following requests;
1. Leonard Street be closed from Finis Avenue north to the
Neches River.
2. Toltec Street be closed, being bordered on the west by
Leonard Street and on the east by Wallace Street.
3• Close 20' alley fronting east and west between Leonard
Street on the west and Wallace Street on the east and
being in Block 3 of the Leonard Addition to the City of
Beaumont.
4. Close 20' alley running north and south, being bordered
on the north by the Neches River and on the south by
Toltec Street, laeing located in Block 2 of the Leonard
Addition to the City of Beaumont.
After a brief discussion, motion was made by C. E. Holland and seconded by Florence
McCluskey that a recommendation be made to the C71- council that Leonard Street be
closed north from Finis Avenue to the Neches River, that Toltec Street be closed
between Wallace Street and Leonard Street, that the alley in Block 3 of the,
Leonard Addition running east and west be closed and that the alley in Block 2
of the Leonard Addition running north and south be closed. The motion carried
unanimously.
Mr. Carl Locke requested that final approval be given Lockewood Addition.
Motion was made by C. E. Holland and seconded by Florence McCluskey that final
approval be given to the plat of Lockewood Addition to the'City of Beaumont. The
motion carried unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned by Chairman Holland.
