AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING, ASSESSING AND COLLECTING
OF AD -VALOREM AND OTHER. TAXES,.FOR -THE- YEAR 1951. FOR
THE .PURPOSE OF.PAYING THE GENERAL OPERATING EXPENSES
OF THE -CITY OF BEAUMONT.-AND PROVIDING A -SINKING
F UND.TO.MEET_THE PAYMENT OF -ALL BONDED INDEBTEDNESS
OF THE CITY. OF. BEAUMONT. AND THE PAYMENT .OF ACCRUING
INTEREST THEREON; PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF OCCU-
PATION -TAX -AND PROVIDING.A SAVINGS CLAUSE.,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
Section 1.
That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed
and collected for the year 19511, for municipal puoses only, an
ad valorem tax of One Dollar and Sixty -Four Centsl$1.64) on each
One Hundred Dollars worth of property located within the -present
city.limits of The City of Beaumont, made tax able by law, which
said taxes when.collected shall be for the purpose hereinafter set
forth as follows, to wit:
For the General Fund $1.19
For the purpose of paying the
accruing interest and to provide a
sinking fund for the payment of the
entire bonded indebtedness of The
City of Beaumont .45
Section 2.
That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall be collected
on all occupations and callings on which an occupational tax is
levied by the State of Texas, a -sum equal to one half of the amount
so levied by the State of Texas, on each respective occupation or
calling in The City of Beaumont.
Section 3.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or
portion of this Ordinance is for any reason held invalid or uncon-
stitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such section,
subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion shall be deemed a
separate, distinct and independent provision and such holding shall
not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof.
