HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 38-V6 64, � ) , l() (�n AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING OFFER OF RUBY BRISTOL TO PURCHASE CERTAIN PROPERTY AND AUTHORI- ZING PROPER CITY OFFICERS TO EXECUTE AND DELIVER QUITCLAIM DEED TO PURCHASER OF SAME: PREAMBLE' WHEREAS, on -the 7th day of October, A.D., 19353 the City of Beaumont recovered a tax judgment against G. R. Bristol, together with the foreclosure of a tax lien upon the following described pro- perty, to-wit.- Lots o-wit: Lots 22, 23, and 24, in Block 2, of the Grandberry Addition, City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as per map or plat of said addition of record in the office of the County Clerk, Jefferson County, Texas; and, . WHEREAS, on the 7th day of January, A.D., 1936, the City of Beaumont purchased said above described property at public auction in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien; and, V WHEREAS, on the 20th day of January, A.D., 1936, W. W. Richard- son, Sheriff of Jefferson County, Texas, made, executed, and delivered unto the City of Beaumont a tax deed to the above described property in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien, which deed was recorded in Vol. 409, Page . 46, of the Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas, on the 25th day of January, A.D. 1936; and, WHEREAS, on the 17th day of April, A.D. 1950, Ruby Bristol offered to purchase all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above described property for the sum of Seven Hundred and 00/100 ($700.00) Dollars; and, WHEREAS, the said Ruby Bristol paid to the City of Beaumont the sum of Seven It and 00100 (6700.00) Dollars in connection with said offer to purchase the above cd escribed property; and, WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that such sale is for -the best interest of the City of Beaumont and should be consum- mated; NOW, therefore, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Beaumont that the aforesaid offer to purchase the above describ- ed property is hereby accepted and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Beaumont a quitclaim deed conveying unto Ruby Bristol all of the right, title, in- terest, claim, estate and demand of the City of Beaumont in the above described property derived by reason of said Sheriffts deed.
