AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE ORDERING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
TO- BE. HELD IN THE CITY OF BEAUh1K)NT, TEXAS, ON TIE 11TH., M- Y. OF
APRIL,. 19501AS PROVIDED. BY THE CHARTER. OF THE.CITY OF BEAU.
PONT, FOR THE PURPOSE -OF ELECTING.A M4YOR AND -FOUR COUNCILMEN;
NAMING.THE,PIACES AT WHICH.SAID ELECTION,SHALL BE HELD; APS-
POID�TING JUDGES TO PRESIDE OVER SAID.ELECTION-; PROVIDING THE
RUINER OF HQLDING SAID ELECTION; AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the City Charter of the City of Beaumont
and the laws of the State of Texas relating thereto, a regular general municipal
election is .required to' be held in the City of Beaumont on the second Tuesday of
April, 1950 for the purpose of electing a Mayor and one Councilman from the first
ward, one councilman from the; second ward, one councilman from the third Yard, and
one councilman from ,the fourth ward; . .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That, in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter of the City
of Beaumont and the lags of the State of Texas relating thereto, there shall be held
in the City of Beaumont on the second Tuesday in April, 1950, the same being the
11th day of April, 1950, a regular municipal election for said City for the purpose
of electing a mayor, and one councilman from the first rard, one councilman from the
second „card, one councilman from the third mrard, and one councilmenfrom the fourth
ward for said City.
Section 2.
That said election shall be held in the City of Beaumont at the following
places, to wit:
French School; Junker School; Central Fire Station; Averill School;
St. Anne's School; City Hall; Ogden School; David Crockett Jr. High
School; Magnolia School;.Charlton Pollard School; South Park
Elementary School; Giles School; Hebert High School'; and..Edwards
School;
That all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 1 shall vote at the
French High School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 2
-shall vote at the Junker School Building; that all voters residing -in County Voting
Precincts Nos. 3, b, and 7 shall vote at Central Fire Station Building; that all
voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 4 shall vote at Averill School Building;
that all voters residing in County Voting,;Precincts Nos. 5, 47, and 50 shall vote at
St. Anne's School -Building; -that all voters residing in County Voting Precincts
AAos. 8, 9 and 10 shall vote.at the City Hall Building;,that all voters residing
in County Voting Precinct No. 11 .shall vote at the Ogden School Building; that-_
all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 12 shall vote at the David
Crockett Jr...High School Building; that.all voters residing.in County Voting
Precinct No. 13 shall.vote at the % gnolia School Building; that all voters
residing in County Voting Precinct No. 14 shall vote at the Charlton Pollard
School Building; that all voters residing in County Voting Precincts Nos. 15 and
42 shall vote at the South.Park Elementary School Building;�that all voters
residing in County Voting Precinct No. 16 shall vote at' the, Giles School Building;.
that all voters residing in County Voting Precinct No. 17 shall vote at the Hebert
School Building; that.all voters residing in Count Voting Precinct No. 18 shell
vote at the Edwards School Building.
Section 3.
The kollowing named persons are appointed presiding judges for their
respective voting boxes witn.the authority to select and appoint their ovm clerks:
French School, T. B. Hensley;
Junker School, Mrs.. James E. Ray;
Central Fire Station, Mrs. G. K. Rafferty;
Averill School, W. F. Wilson;
St. Anne's School, Eugene L. Seale;
City Hall, D. H. Barnes;
Ogden School, Mrs. C. E. -Drake;
David Crockett Jr. High School, F. L. Fisher;
Magnolia School, E., --A. Godwin;
Charlton Pollard School., Wilfred Como;
South Park Elementary School, Mrs J. C. Burkhart;
Giles School, Mrs. W. N..Youse;
Hebert School, A. L.. Price;
Edwards School, Mrs. C. C. Moore,.
Section 4.
That said' -election shall be held under, and the qualifications of those
voting thereat, shall be controlled by.the provisions of the'State Laws governing
elections..
Section 5.
A copy of this ordinance, signed by the Arayor of the City of Beaumont and
attested by the City Clerk thereof, shall serve as proper and -sufficient notice of
said election; and the Mayor is hereby directed to cause a copy of this ordinance,
signed by himself and attested by the City Clerk, to be posted at each of the

places herein designated for holding said election, at least thirty (30) days
prior to the date of holding said election.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Beaumont this the 7th day
of March, A. D., 1950.
