SMITH_TO PURCHASE LOT TWENTY-SIX (26), BLOCK ONE (1).OF.THE HANKS ADDITION TO THE CITY OF.BEAUMONT, TEXAS, AND AUTHORIZING.PROPER,CITY OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE -AND DELIVER,QUITCLAIM DEED TO PURCHASER FOR SAME. WHEREAS, on the 17th day of May, 1946, The City of Beau- mont, Plaintiff, recovered a tax judgment against C. A. Holt, to- gether with the foreclosure of a tax lien upon the following de- scribed property, to wit: and, Lot 260 Block 1, of the Hanks Addition to the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, as per map and plat of said addition of record in the office of the County Clerk of said County; WHEREAS, on the 3rd day of February, 1948, The City of Beaumont purchased said above described property at public auction in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien; and, WHEREAS, on the 3rd day of February, 1948, C. H. Meyer, Sheriff of Jefferson County, Texas, made, executed and delivered unto The City of Beaumont a tax deed to the above described prop- erty in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien, which deed was recorded in Volume 697, Page 440, Deed Records of Jefferson Coun- ty, Texas, on the 4th day of May., 1948; and, WHEREAS, on the 17th day of February, 1953, James G. Smith offered to purchase all of the right, title, interest, claim, es- tate and demand of The City of Beaumont in the above described property for the sum of One Hundred One ($101.00) Dollars; and, WHEREAS, said James G. Smith paid to The City of Beaumont the said sum of One Hundred One ($101.00) Dollars in connection with said offer to purchase the above described property; and, WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that such sale is for the best interest of The City of Beaumont and should be con- summated; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAU- MONT, TEXAS: That the aforesaid offer to purchase the above described property is hereby accepted, and the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of The City of Beau - wont a quitclaim deed conveying unto James G. Smith all of the right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of The City of Beaumont in the above described property derived by reason of said Sherifffs Deed. PASSED by the City Council this day of March, A.D. 1953. - Mayor
