AN ORDINANCE
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING OFFER OF JOSIE
MAE HOCKLES TO.PURCHASE PORTIONS OF LOTS FIFTEEN
(15).AND.SIXTEEN (16) IN BLOCK THREE -0) OF THE
OIL.MILL ADDITION TO THE CITY.OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS,
AND AUTHORIZING PROPER_CITY.OFFICIALS TO.EXECUTE
AND DELIVER QUITCLAIM DEED TO -PURCHASER FOR SAME.
WHEREAS, on the 19th day of October, 1945, The City of
Beaumont, Plaintiff, recovered a tax judgment against Robert Lewis,
if living, if dead, his unknown heirs and legal representatives,
together with the foreclosure of a tax lien upon the following de-
scribed property, to wit:
and,
The South five (5t) feet of Lot 15 and the North
forty-five (451 ) feet of Lot 16, Block 3, Oil Mill
Addition to the .City of Beaumont,. Jefferson County,
Texas;
WHEREAS, on the 5th day of February, 1946, The City of.Beau-
mont purchased said above described property at public auction in
satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien; and,.
WHEREAS, on the 14th day of February, 1946, Wo W. Richard-
son, Sheriff of Jefferson County, Texas, made, executed and deliv-
ered unto The City of Beaumont a tax deed to the above described
property in satisfaction of said judgment and tax lien, which deed
was recorded in Volume 611, Page 564, Deed Records of Jefferson
County, Texas, on the 26th day of March, 1946; and,
WHEREAS, on the 17th day of February, 1953, Josie Mae
Hockles offered to purchase all of the right, title, interest, claim,
estate and demand of The City of Beaumont in the above described
property for the sum of One Hundred Fifty ($150.00) Dollars; and,
WHEREAS, said Josie Mae Hockles paid to The City of Beau-
mont the said sum of One Hundred Fifty ($150.00) Dollars in connec-
tion with said offer to purchase the above described property; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that -such sale

is for the best interest of The City of Beaumont and should be
consummated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED .BY THE CITY OF BEAU-
MONT, TEXAS:
That the aforesaid offer to purchase the above described property
is hereby accepted, and the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute and deliver on behalf of The City of Beau-
mont a quitclaim deed conveying unto Josie Mae Hockles all of the
right, title, interest, claim, estate and demand of The City of
Beaumont in and to the above described property derived by reason
of said Sheriff's Deed.
