Beaumont,Texas. Nov.7-1922.
To the Honorable Mayor and City Commission,
Beaumont, Texas.
Gentlemen; -
As you probably well know the undersigned,
Kirby Lumber Company, are desirous of platting their
property west of fine Street in the City of Beaumont,
Jefferson County, Texas, formerly,- occupied by their
planer, dry kiln and lumber yard, into an addition to
the City of Beaumont to be known as the"Kirby Addition'.
We desire to state that we have had a competent
engineer go on the ground and work out the most
practicable plat possible under the existing condi-
tions.
In this connection we desire to state that
included in the Kirby Addition would be a part of the
T. S. Long Addition and also the Reliance Addition,
heretofore platted and made a part of the City of
Beaumont, the T. S. Long Addition consists of Blocks
Nos. 3 and 5, having been platted and dedicated by
Mrs. T. S. long on March 18th. 1892, and the Reliance
Addition platted and set out in deed from the Reliance
Lumber Company to the kirby Lumber Company of date
January 6th. 1902.
In this connection advise that we have by
purchase acquired Blocks Nos. 3 and 5'of the T. S. Long
Addition and all of the Reliance Addition with the
exception of lots Nos. 9, 10 and 11 of Block No. 4,
and Block No. 6, said B1oole.Noa.6 and 1 of the T. S.
Long Addition not being included in the proposed Kirby
Addition.
If the proposed Kirby Addition is acceptable
as an addition to the City it will be necessary for
you to pass necessary resolutions and ordinances
closing and abandoning certain alleys and streets
in consideration of the opening of other streets
to conform to the adjacent property. In this
connection advise that no:- property owner;. would
be depraved of any right or privilege but to the
contrary will have greater facilities for ingress
and egress than now exist.
Thanking you to accept this proposed
Addition to be known as the Kirby Addition to
the City of Beaumont and upon the passage of -necessa-
ry,.! resolutions and ordinances a plat, copy of
which is hereto attached, will be filed in the
County Clerk's office with appropriate dedication
deed of the streets and alleys shown therein.
