AN ORDINANCE
Entitled an Ordinance providing for the levying, assessing
and collecting of ad Valorem and other taxes for the year 1921,
for the purpose of pr.jviding a sinking fund to meet the payment
of all the bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, and the
payment of accruing interest thereon; providing for the support and
maintenance of the City of Beaumont Public Free Schools; to pay
the expenses. of the departments of the, city government, as named
in said Ordinance.,_ and the general- expendes _of the ci ty-government-,
and apportioning the taxes to be levied to such departments and
purposes as set forth in said ordinance; providing for the
payment of poll tax and occupation tax.; and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE, CITY COI MISSION OF
THE CITY OF BEAU YiONT :
Section 1.
That there shall be and is hereby levied, and shall
be assessed and collected for the year 1921, an ad Valorem tax of
Two {$2.00} Dollars on each One Hundred Dollars worth of property
in the City of Beaumont made taxable by law, which said'taxes when
collected_ shall _be, -according to Section 16 of the Charter o f
the City of Beaumont, apportioned among the funds and departmen�s
of the city government of the City of Beaumont, and for the
purposes hereinafter set forth, as follows, towit:

interest, and to provide a sinking fund
for the payment of the -entire bonded indebt-
edness of the0ity of Beaumont for all
purposes, including the interest and sinking
fund on and for the the Refunding Bonds
issued by the City Commission of the City
of Beaumont, by virtue of an ordinance
passed on the 3rd. day of July, 1920,---------$00.332-

For the purpose of paying for and taking
up Fire Department Bills Payable, -------------$00.025

For the purpose of paying for the re -surfacing
of all brick str::ets with Uvalde Rock
Asphalt, as provided for by ordinance passed
by the old City Council of the City of
Beaumont, on the 11th. day of September,
1917, and on record on pages I and -2, volume
4 of the old ordinances of the City of

For the purpose of paying the accruing inter-
est and indebtedness, and to provide a n
sinking fund to retire said indebtedness as
same falls due, incurred in the purchase of
Nye dorless Crematory incinerator plant by

Section 2.
That there shall be and is hereby levied, and there
shall be collected on all occupations and callings on which an
occupation tax is levied by the State of Texas, a sum equal
to one-half of the amount so levied by the State of Texas, on
each respective occupation or calling in the City of Beaumont.
Section 3.
That there shall be and is hereby levied, and there
shall be collected a poll tax of One (01.00) Dollar on each and
every .able-bodied citkzen of -the City of -Be aumont between the
ages of 21 and 60 years, of whom the State of Texas shall
require the payment of a poll tax; provided, however, that those
who may be exempt from the payment of such tax by the constitu-
tion and. laws of the State of Texas, shall be and are hereby
exempt from the payment of such tax in the City of Beaumont.
