Entitled an ordinance providing for the levying, assessing and
collecting of ad Valorem and other taxes for the year 7.920, .for the
purpose of providing a sinking fund to meet the payment of all the
bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, and the payment of
accruing interest thereon; providing for the support and maintenance
of the City of Beaumont Public Free Sohools; to pay the . expenses
of the departments of the city government, as named in said ordinance,
and the general expenses of the city government, and apportioning
the taxes to be levied to such departments and purposes as .set forth
In said ordinance; providing for the payment of poll tax and occupation
tax; and declaring an emergency.
BIS IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COtr�aISSION OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
-Sect-1 on 1.
That there shall be and is hereby levied, and shall be aseezuod
and c ollec teed for the year 1920, an ad Valorem tax of Two ($2.00)
Dollars on each One Hundred Dollars worth of property in the City of
Beaumont made taxable by law, which said taxes when colleeUK shall
be, according to Section 16 of the Charter of the City of Beaumont,
apportioned along the funds and departments of the city government of
the City of Beaumont, and for the purposes hereinafter set forth, as
follows, to wit :

For the purpose of paying the accruing interest, and to
provide a sinking fund for the payment of the entire
,bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont for all
'>:_arposes, save and except the interest and sinking
Section 2.
That there shall be and is hereby levied, and there shall be
collected on all occupations and callings on which an occupation tax
is levied by the State of Texas, a sum equal to one-half of the amount
so levied by the State of Texas, on each respective occupation or
calling, in the City of Beaumont, 22
Section 3.
That there shall be and is hereby levied,, and there shall be

bodied citizen of the City of Beaumont between the ages of 21 and 60
years, of whom the State of Texas shall require the payment of. a, poll
tax; provided, however, that those who may be exempt from the .payment
of such tax by the constitution and laws of the State of Texas, shall
be and are hereby ebempt .from the payment of such tax in the City of
Beaumont.

from and after -its passage and signature of the Mayor,,
