Entitled an'ordinance'providing for the advertisement for sealed
proposals,for.the custody of the city funds from any banking corpora-
tion, association or individual ranker, doing business in the City of
Beaumont-, providing the manner in which the said bids shall be adver-
tised for., the form in which they shall be made, 'the time when shall
be received and opened, the amount of the bond to be required of the
successful bidder, and declaring an emergency!

Rection 1.
That there shall;'beJani 'aclve.rtisement For sealed proposals for the
custody of the funds of the . City of Beaumont from any banking corpora-
tion, association orindividual banker, doing, --business in the City
of :Beaumont.
Section 2.
The. -'form. of 'such., advertisement for. the;=-custody._.of, the :City funds
shall b,e as follows: "Sealed bids for the custody of .the funds of
the Citi. of Beaumont will be received at the office of the City- Clerk
of the City of Beaumont from any banking corporation, association or
individual' banker, doing business in the City of Beaumont up to and
including September_ 30th, l920,' The said sealed bids will be opened
at the next regular meeting, thereafter, of,the' City Commission of
the City of Beaumont, which said -next meeting. thereafter will be on
Tuesday, October 5, 1920. The City commission shall have the right
to reject any or all. bids."
Section 3.
The said form of advertisement, above described, shall(Immediately)
be punished for three successive times in: the Beaumont Daily Journal,
a news -paper published in the City of Beaumont.
Section 4.
When, -any banking corporation, -association or individual banker,
doing business in the City, is selected. as the depository of the fM
(funds of the City of;Beaumont, such banking corporation, association
or individual banker so.selected shall execute therefor a good and

r suffmci.ent bond in the amount of one million (01,000,000.00) Dollars,.

conditioned. for the faithful accounting to the city of all money,
books and properties which may come into its or his possession as
such City Depository. The said bond so executed shall have t�ereo�

acceptance and appraval of the Commission.

conditioned for the faithful accounting to the city of all money,

such City repository. The said bond so executed shall have thereon
good and sufficient sureties as is required by lavi., subject to

Should any part of this oi--lAnance for any reason be reld zpi --to be
invalid, the remaining partk-shall not

but remain in full force and effect.
Section 6.
T#at the fact that the contract with the present City depository
has already. expired and it oeing necessary to at once select a de-
positor Y under the new -charter, creates an imperative public emergency
necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances to be
read on three separate days before their passage, wherefore said rule
is hereby suspended and this ordina-nce shall take effect from and
after its passage and signature of the mayor.
