An ordinance granting to the Texarkana & Fort
Smith Railway Company, its successors or assigns, the right and
privilege_ to construct, lay and :maintain a standard guage
railroad track, over and upon Railroad Avenue, and across
Fanizin Street in the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Teras,
and to operata its trains' and cars for a p -or iod of �e

('&5) years, , said standard guage railroad track to be laid over
and upon Railroad Avenue, and across ea -id FanniM Street, the
canter line of said standard guage railroad track to begin at a
point
Beginning at a point in the Pres-nnt Texarkana. &
Fort Smith Railway tract in the canter of Railroad Avenue,
118.2 feet North of the North side of Forsythe Street;,
Thence in a 9 degrees 3111 curve to the right
through an angle of 13 degrees and 50 minutes, 13.4 feet
to a point of reverse curve; _
Thence in said reverse 9 degree and 31 minute
carve to the left--thr-ough -an angle -Of -13 deo ees -and 50-
minutes 145.4 feet crossing Fannin Street near its inter-
section with Railroad Avenue, to point � feet inside the
Railroad Avbnue east property line and 45, 4feet north of
the north side of Fannin Strzat;
Thence with the east side of Railroad Avenue
5 ft. east and parallel therato, 94. 1 feet to and of
track 385.4 ft. .1"ong,
-y prescribing the conditions to be fulfilled before said ordinance
shall go into affect, and the time limit for the construction of
said track.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY 'JV BEAUMONT:-
The Texarkana & Fort Smith Railway Company, its
-- succeosors and assigns, is hereby granted the right and privilege
to construct, lay and maintain, at its own expense, a standard
guage. railroad track, over and. upon Railroad Avenue, and across
Fannin Street in the City of . Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texalp,
and to operate ita trains and carsAthereon for a period of

years, said standard guage railroad track to be
laid over and upon said Railroad Avenue, the center line of
said standard gua'ge railroad track to begin_ at a point
Beginning at a point in the present Texarkana
Fort Smith R4ilway tract in the center of Railroad Avelne,
118.2 feet North of the North sidd of Forsythe Street;
Thence in a 9 degrees 31" curve to the right
through an angle of 13 degrees and 50 minutes, 145.4 flet
to a point of reverse curve,
Thence in said reverse 9 degrees and 31 minutes
curve to the left through an angle of 13 degrees and 50
minutes 145.4 feet crossing Fannin Street near its inter-
section with Railroad Avenue, to point 5 feet inside the
Railroad Avenue east property line and 45.4 feet north of , ..
the north side of Fannin Stree-�
Thence with the east side of Railroad Avenue
5 ft east and parallel thereto, 94.6 feet to end of
trach 385.4 ft. long.
SECTION 11
The standard guage rialroad track to be constructed,
laid and maintained under the ter. is and conditions of this
ordinance, shall be used only as an industrial track, it being
understood that the construction of said track is only for
the purpose of reaching commercial and .-industr-ial cnterprises
located along and on Railroad Avenue.

The foregoing tights and privileges are granted upon
the ofirass condition that said grantee shall within thirty 00}.
days after the final passage of this ordinance,. file �ovith the
City Secretary of the city of Beaumont,, its written acceptance
of this ordinance.
SECTICY 1V

Unless the grantee, its successors or assigns, shall
construct, lay and have completed the track herein contenn1:lated
within twelve (122) months after the sinal passage, acceptance
and publication of this ordinance, the same shall be null and
void and of no force and. affect.
SECTION V
This ordinance is passed subject to all the terms
and provisions of the Charter of the City of Beaumont.

Dear Sir: -
August 27, 1920
Re have your favor of August 25th,, advising
that the Texarkana & Fort Smith Railway Company had been
given the right by ordinance passed and filed on August 24th.,
to construct and maintain a standard gauge railroad track
over and upon Railroad Avenue, as referred to in our letter
of August 11th. We note that the franchise is for a term
of 10 years, instead of 25, and requires notice of acceptance
within 30 days from the date of the passage and that the track
shall be completed within 12 months from the acceptance and
passage.
