l AN ORDINANCE amending aria.: Ordinance granting to,
the Mackay,Telegraph & Cable Company a franchise to maintain
and operate a telegraph line in and upon certain streets,,;, j
alleys and public ways of the City of Beaumont, Texas,
Said original ordinance passed February 21st, 1912, and
recorded in minute book of ordinances number three pages
176 and 176 of the records of ordinances of said City.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That section 3 of the above mentioned and recorded
ordinance be and the same is hereby amended so as hereafter to
read as follows:
SECTION 3
.The right and -privilege is herein granted to The Mackay
Telegraph and. Cable Company to set its poles, string its wires,
and operate and maintain its line of telegraph along and over or
under the following streets in The City of Beaumont to wit:
Beginning at the Texarkana and Fort Smith Railroad bridge
crossing the Neches River, west in Washington Street; thence on
Texarkana and Fort Smith Railroad right of way to Railroad Avenue
and College Street; thence on Railroad Avenue to Wall Street;
thence on Texarkana and--Fort-Smith and Beaumont_,. Sourr Lake and
Western Railway rights-of-way to the West city limits.
Also, beginning at the intersection of Fourth Street
with the Beaumont Sour Lake and. Western Railroad right-of-way
South in Fourth Street to Lafayette Street thence South in
Lafayette Street to the alley lying between Cartwright and Roberts
Street; thence East in said alley lying between Cartwright and
Roberts Street to Brooks Street; thence South in Brooks Street to
the South city,limits.
The right and privilege is also granted to the Mackay
Telegraph and Cable Company to construct an,underground system
of conduits and manholes, and maintain cable therein, in,tha,foll,owing
streets,.to-wit:
Beginning at the intersection of Washington and Park
Streets, in Park, Crockett and Orleans Streets, or in and under
such other streets as may be necessary to enable it to reach its
office location in the business district of the city.
That save as here amended as to the route of the said -
_Company's telegraph line, the said original ordinance shall remain
and. be in full force and effect as originally adopted and recorded-.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and publication.
