Providing for the levying, ,assessing and collecting of taxes
for the year 1916, for the purpose of providing a sinking fund
to meet the payment of the bonded indebtedness of the City of
Beaumont, and for the accruing interest thereon; providing.
for the support of the public schools of the City; to repair
and improve the streets, alleys and public squares;' to meet
the current exoenses of the city of beaumont; to provide for
the p urchasing, constructing, maintaining, operating and owning
of public narks; to provide a sinking fund, to meet the pa4Tnent
of the bonded indebtedness of the water works s;vstem, and of
the accrueing interest thereonto tax occupations_ and. callings
made taxable by the State. of 'eexa.s; tnd to collect on all able
bodied male citizens, over twenty-one years and under sixty
years o -L age, a poll tax.
BE IT 0 PADA UED BY THE' CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUVION T,
TEXAS:
SECTION I.
That there is hereby levied and shall be assessed
and collected for the year 1911, the following taxes on all
property situated within the corporate limits of the City of
Beaumont, Texas, made taxable by law, towit :
For the purpose of naying gsneral current expenses of
the City Government, and for general purposes, 7%_
cents on each.one hundred (100.00) Dollars --valuation..
For the pu,port and maintenance 'of oublic free schools,
cents on each one hundred ( $100.00) Dollars
valuation.
For the purpose of re airing and maintaining the streets,
alleys, public squares and bridges of the city,
cents on each one hundred (6'100.00) Dollars valuation.
For the purpose of paying the accruing interest, and
to provide a sinking fund for the payment of the bonded indebteaC

For the purchasing, constructing, maintenance and
operating of public free parks, either inside or outside of the

SECTION 2I.
That there is hereby levied and shall be collected
on all occupations and callings on which an occupation tax is
levied by the State of Texas, a sum equal to one-half of the
amount so levied by the State of Texas, on each resile ctive
occupation or calling.
SEC TIOF III.
That there is hereby levied and shall be collected
a poll tax of one ($1.00) Dollar from each and every able
bodied male citizen of this city between the ages of 21 and 60
years, excepting and exempting herefrom those who may be
exempt from the payment of me h` tax by the c oust i t-mt i on and
laws of the State of Texas.
SECTIOP IV.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its passage and lawful p lication.-
