HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 25-BB66-tq P �3 a a c2,,S--,8)3 6�o�� AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE "ZONING ORDINANCE" OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON JUNE 7, 1955, BY CHANGING THE ZONING CLASSIFICATION OF LOTS 18-A, 18-B, 19-,A, 19-B, 19-C and 19-D, BLOCK 6 OF THE RESUBDIVISION OF CALDWOOD ACRES FROM "R-30 , MODIFIED TWO-FAMILY AND MULTIPLE DWELLING DISTRICT TO "C-2", CENTRAL COMMERCIAL DISTRICT. WHEREAS, the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company is a pub- lic utility which furnishes telephone service to the citizens of The City of Beaumont, and is under an obligation to furnish effi- cient service;'and, WHEREAS, in order to furnish efficient telephone service to the citizens situated in the rapidly developing western section of The City of Beaumont, officials of the Southwestern Bell Tele- phone Company represent that it is essential that a telephone ser- vice center be -constructed in the general vicinity of Block 6- of the Resubdivision of Caldwood Acres; and, WHEREAS, the only suitable location for such service center which is available for purchase is Lots 18-A, 18-B, 19-A, 19-B, 19-C and 19-D in Block 6 of the Resubdivision of Caldwood Acres; and, WHEREAS, in order for a telephone service center to be conk structed on Lots 18-A, 18-B, 19-A, 19-B, 19-C and 19-D, Block 6 of the -Resubdivision of Caldwood Acres, it would be necessary to change the zoning of said lots from their present classification of "R-3" to a "C-2" classification; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of The City of Beaumont is of the opinion that the construction of the above-mentioned telephone service center would be to the furtherance of the interest and wel- fare of the citizens of Beaumont; and, WHEREAS, all State statutes and ordinances of The City of Beaumont pertaining to public hearings and notices to property owners having been complied with and the'City Planning and Zoning Commission of The City of Beaumont having recommended to the City Council of The City of Beaumont that the zoning classification of Lots 18-A, 18-B, 19-A, 19-B, 19-C and 19-D in Block 6 of the Resub- division of Caldwood Acres be changed from "R-3" to NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS; Section l.' That the "Zoning Ordinance" enacted by the City Council of The City of Beaumont on the 7th day of'June, 1955 is hereby amended by changing the zoning classification of Lots 18-A, 18-B, 19-A, 19-B, 19-C and 19-D of Block 6 of the Resubdivision of Caldwood Acres from "R-3". Modified Two -Family and Multiple Dwelling District to "C-2", Central Commercial District, and the official zoning map of The City of Beaumont is hereby amended to reflect such change. Section 2. That in all other respects the use of the property herein- above described shall be subject to all of the applicable regula- tions contained in the "Zoning Ordinance" of The City'of'Beaumont enacted by the City Council on June 7, ,1955.
