(a) Four -party residence telephone service is authorized
only until such time as telephone facilities are
available to -furnish two-party residence telephone
service to the then existing .four -party residence
telephone customers; at such time, four -party resi-
dence telephone service shall be discontinued.
(b) The rate for a flat rate PBX -trunk is one and.one-
half times.the rate for one party business flat rate
service.
(c) The rate for a flat rate PBX trunk is one and one-
half times the rate for one party residence flat rate
service.
(d) Minimum local message revenue guarantee equal to one
- party business flat rate service.
(e) See Section 3.

(a) Four -party residence telephone service is authorized

Section 3."
That authority to increase the charge for local messages
from coin box telephones to ten cents (10¢) per message is hereby
granted, to become effective when the Telephone.Company completes
equipment modifications necessary to the due rendition of telephone
service from such coin box telephones on this basis. With the making
effective, of a' charge _ of . ten cents for local messages from such coin
box telephones,-the'rate to -the -subscriber to semi-public coin box
telephone service shall be eight and three-quarters cents (8-3/40)
per message for calls over the daily guarantee and,ten cents -(10¢)
per message for calls under the daily guarantee.
Section 4.
All ordinances heretofore passed by the City Council of The
City of Beaumont establishing rates and charges for telephone service
are hereby repealed effective with the establishment of the rates
authorized in Section l above.
Section 5.
Nothing in this ordinance contained shall be construed now
or hereafter as limiting or modifying, in any manner, the right and
power of the City under the law to regulate the rates and charges of
Southwestern Bell'Telephone Company.

AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A BASE RATE AREA
FOR TELEPHONE SERVICE IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT-
Section to That approval is hereby granted for the
establishment of a Base Rate Area as shown on the map attached
hereto and made a part hereof. Every customer located within
this Base Rate Area shall be entitled to local exchange telephone
service at the base rates duly authorized by this Council.
Section 20 That standard excess mileage charges shall
apply for service furnished customers within the City of Beaumont
but located outside of this Base`Rate Area. In no case shall the
Telephone Company apply its standard excess,mileage charges for
service within the aforesaid Base Rate Area.
Section 3o That the Base Rate Area of the exchange may
be extended by the Telephone Company whenever density of develop-
ment may justify such extension, but in no case shall the area
shown on the attached map be diminished without authorization by
the City -Council. A map showing the current Base Rate Area shall
be maintained in the business office of the Telephone Company.
Section 4o That the establishment of the aforesaid Base
Rate Area shall become effective on the first billing date after
this ordinance becomes effective in accordance with the Charter of
the City.
Section 5: That nothing in this ordinance contained
shall be construed as in any manner, now or hereafter, limiting
or modifying the right and power of the City under the law to
regulate the rates charged for local exchange telephone service
by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for its services within
the City of Beaumont, Texas.
