AN ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE KIND AND RATES OF FARE TO BE
CHARGED BY THE BEAUMONT CITY LINES, INC. ON ALL OF ITS
SCHEDULES WITHIN THE CITY.OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS; PROVIDING
FOR CHANGE OF SCHEDULES; PROVIDING FOR ADEQUATE SERVICE
AND.RETAINING ALL OF THE POWERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
SAID UTILITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:,
1.
From and after April 15, 1956, except as hereinafter stated,
said Beaumont City.Lines, Inc. shall be permitted to -charge the"follow-
ing fares on all schedules then in effect and schedules to be herein-
after approved by the City Council-,-

on school days only, upon the pre-
sentation of identification card

Fifteen Cents (15¢)
Seven and a half Cents
(7-1/2¢,), valid only
when purchased in a
single lot good for
twenty (20) rides. Price
of twenty (20) rides
One Dollar and Fifty
Cents ($1.50)
This student fare of Seven and a half Cents
(7-1/2¢) to become effective September 13
1956; the present fare of Five (.05¢) for.
school children is.to remain in.effect
through August 31, 1956.
Half Fare:
Children between ages of Five (5)
and Twelve (12) years
Children under age of Five (5)
years when accompanied .by a fare -
paying ;.passenger ,

Said Beaumont City Lines, Inc. shall substantially conform with
the schedules now on file with The City of Beaumont; said schedules
shall.not be changed except on written application addressed to the City
Council of The City of Beaumont and filed with the City Clerk of The
City of Beaumont, and said changes applied for shall not be put into
effect until formal approval by the City Council.

The City Council shall retain its power to require adequate bus
service of the Company, and if, after proper study, the City Council is
of the opinion that the present schedules are not adequate to give
reasonable bus service to the people of Beaumont, the City Council shall
notify the Beaumont City Lines, Inc. in -writing of such changes in
schedules as they deem necessary, and said changes shall be put into
effect immediately by said Bus Company. •
Nothing herein shall -be construed to deprive The City of Beaumont
of any of its powers to regulate the Beaumont City Lines, Inc. in its
operations'in The City of Beaumont as a public utility, and nothing here-
in,shall_.be construed to change or amend the franchise under which'.said
Company is now operating.
