BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMLIIISSION OF THE CITY OF

That there shall be y levi d and shall be assessed
and collected for the year, for municipa purposes only, an ad
valorem tax of One and 95/100 -Dollars (,,1.95) on each One Hundred
Dollars worth of property located within the present city limits of
the City of Beaumont, made taxable by law, which said taxes when
collected shall be, according to Section 16 of the Charter of the
City of Beaumont,. apportioned among the funds and departments of the
city government of the City of Beaumont and for the purpose herein-
after set forth as follows, to -wit:
For the General Fund

For the support and maintenance of

For the support and maintenance of
Charity Hospital .03
For the purpose of paving the accruing interest
and to provide a sinking fund for the payment
of the entire bonded indebtedness of the City
of Beaumont for all purposes, except the school
bonded indebtedness of the Beaumont City Schools .78
Section 2
That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed
and collected for the year 1913, a school maintenance tax of Sixty-
eight Cents (680) on each One Hundred Dollars worth of property
lying and being'situated within the present limits of the Beaumont
Independent School District; and there shall be and is hereby levied
and shall be assessed and collected for the year 1943, a tax of
Tt�renty-six Cents (260) on each One Hundred Dollars worth of said pro-
perty to take care of the interest and sinking fund on the school
bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont within the present limits
of the Beaumont Independent Sc. ool District.
Sec ion
That there shall be -and is hereby levied and there shall be
collected on all occupations and callings on which an occupation tax-
is levied by the State of Texas, a s equal to one-half of the amount
so levied by the State of Texas, on each respective occupation or call-
ing in the City of Beaumont.

There being no Ordinance in effect levying the tares for the
year 1943,.and the taxes for said year will soon become due and payable,
an`d) immediate public emergency exists, necessitating the suspension of
the rule requiring ordinances to be read on three separate days before
passage, wherefore, said rule is hereby suspended and it is enacted that
this Ordinance shall'.be in full force and effect from and after its
--passage and publication, --

SCHOOL DISTRICT, LEVIED AND ORDERED COLLECTED BY AN ORDINANCE PASS-
ED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT ON THE 31st DAY

WHEREAS, the, City" Commission of the City of Beaumont, Texas,
under date September 7, 1943, passed an ordinance apportioning tax
rates to the several funds of the City of Beaumont, Texas, to pay in-
terest and create a sinking fund for bond accounts of the City of
Beaumont, Texas, and
WHEREAS, in the original ordinance the total tax rates are
correct and remain the same but the apportionments to the several in-
terest and sinking funds should be revised to conform with the total
tax rates shown therein; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF . THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT.. TEXAS:
That the above captioned ordinance entitled "AN:.,,ORDINANCE

That the tax of Twenty-six Cents ($.26) on each one hundred
dollars valuation of all taxable property within the present limits
of Beaumont -Independent School District heretofore levied for in-
terest And sinking fund accounts and ordered collected by an ordin-
ance passed on the 31st day of August, A. D:, 1943, be and the same

Section 3
That the City Tax Assessor and Collector is hereby instructed
to pro -rate the said sums so assessed according to the provisions of
the Ordinance, and to so present his statement and report to the
Director of Finance that said officer may be able to place all col-
lections made under said tax to the credit of the proper fund, and
that the same may not be diverted or used for any other purpose.
Section 4
- That the ordinance passed -September 7, 1943 apportioning a tax
rate of Seventy-eight Cents ($.78) -on each one hundred dollars valua-
tion of all taxable property within the present limits of the City of.
Beaumorit, Texas and a tax of Twenty-six Cents ($.26) on each one hun-
dred dollars valuation of taxable property within the present limits
of the -Beaumont Independent School District is hereby expressly re-
pealed.
Section 5
The fact that the original ordinance passed September 7, 1943,
apportioning the respective tax rates herein referred to contained an
error in the apportionment and is repealed under Section 4.of this
Ordinance leaves the City of Beaumont, Texas without an apportionment
of assessments levied -to -provide for the interest and sinking funds
for the bonded indebtedness, -thereby creating an imperative -public
emergency necesaitating the suspension of the rule requiring ordin-
ances to be read on three separate meetings before their passage,
wherefore, said rule is hereby suspended and this Ordinance shall
take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.

Section 3
That the Oity Tax Assessor and Collector is hereby instructed to
pro -rate the said sums so assessed according to the provisions of
the Ordinance, and to so present his statement and report to the
Director of Finance that said officer may be able to place all
collections made under said tax to the credit of the proper fund, and
that the same may not be diverted or used for any other purpose.
Section 4,
The fact that no apportionment has been made of the assessments
levied to provide for the interest and sinking fund for the bonded
indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, creates an imperative public
emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances
to be read on three separate meetings before their passage, wherefore,
said rule is hereby suspended and this Ordinance--sh-all take effect and
be in force from and after its passage d publication.
