ing._of any motor or horse drawn vehicle on -

the driving of any motor or -horse drawn vehicle
on Elizabeth Street from its intersection with
Cypress Street to its intersection with Pine

hibiting the driving of any motor or horse drawn
vehicle on Travis Street from its intersection
with Elizabeth Street to its intersection with
Mulberry Street -except in a Southerly direction,
and prohibiting the parking of any motor or horse
drawn vehicle on the East side of Cypress Street_
from its intersection with Tevis Street to its
intersection with Elizabeth.Street, and prohibit-
ing the parking of_any motor or horse drawn ve-
hicle on the Vilest side of Cypress Street from
its intersection with Tevis Street to its inter-
section with Mulberry Street.for a greater period
of time than thirty (30) -minutes, and prohibiting
the parking of any motor or horse drawn vehicle
on the West side of Cypress Street from its in-
tersection with Mulberry Street to its intersec-
tion with Elizabeth Street, and prohibiting the
parking of any motor.or horse drawn vehicle on
either side of Elizabeth Street from its inter-
section with Cypress Street to its intersection
with Pine Street; and._prohibiting the parking of
any motor or horse drawn vehicle on the West side
of Travis Street from its intersection with Eliz-
abeth-Street

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION ION OF THE
- CITY OF BEAUMONT -
That certain Ordinance enacted by the City Commission
of the City of Beaumont on the 15th day of December, A. D.
1942 entitled:

PRESCRIBING A PENALTY AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE

CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person in charge of
any motor or horse drawn vehicle to drive the same on Cypress
Street from its intersection with Tevis Street to its intersection
with Elizabeth Street, except in a northerly direction.
The foregoing Section 1 shall be construed to establish what
is commonly known as a "one-way street' on Cypress Street between
the points described,.and the purpose of said provision is to make
it unlawful to drive said vehicle into and/or upon said area .on
Cypress Street except. or unless proceeding in a northerly direction.

Section 2.
It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person in charge of
any motor or horse drawn vehicle to drive same on Elizabeth
Street between its intersection with Cypress Street and its in-
tersection with Pine Street except in a Westerly direction.
The foregoing Section 2 shall be construed to establish
what is commonly known as a "one-way street" -on Elizabeth Street
between the points described, and the purpose of said provision
is to make it unlawful to drive said vehicle into and/or upon
said area on Elizabeth Street except or unless proceeding in -a
Westerly direction.
Section 3.
It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person in charge of
any motor or horse drawn vehicle to drive same on Travis Street
between its intersection with Elizabeth Street and its intersec-
tion with Mulberry Street except in a Southerly direction.
The foregoing Section 3 shall be construed to establish
what is commonly known as a "one-way street" on Travis Street
between the points described and the purpose of said provision is
to make it unlawful to drive said vehicle into and/or upon said
area on Travis Street except and unless proceeding in a Southerly
direction.
Section 4.
It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person in charge of
any motor or horse drawn vehicle to allow said vehicle to remain
standing or parked on the East side of Cypress Street from its
intersection with Tevis_Street to its intersection with Elizabeth
Street.
Section. 5.
It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person in charge of
any motor or horse drawn vehicle to allow said vehicle to remain
standing or parked on the West side of Cypress Street from its

intersection with Tevis Street to its intersection with Mulberry
Street for a longer period of time than thirty (30) minutes.
Section 6.
It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person in charge of
any motor or horse drawn vehicle to allow said vehicle to remain
standing or parked on the West side of Cypress Street from its
intersection with Mulberry Street to its intersection v&.th Eliza-
beth Street.
Section 7.
It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person in charge of
any motor or horse drawn vehicle to allow said vehicle to remain
standing or parked on Elizabeth Street from its intersection with
Cypress Street to its intersection with Pine Street.
Section 8.
It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person in charge of
any motor or horse drawn vehicle to allow said vehicle to remain
standing or parked on the West side of Travis Street from its in-
tersection with Elizabeth Street to its intersection with Mulberry
Street.
Section 9.
It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person in charge of
any motor or horse drawn vehicle to allow said vehicle to remain
standing or parked on the East side of Travis Street from its in-
tersection with Elizabeth Street to its intersection with !Mulberry
Street for a longer period of time than thirty (30) minutes.
Section 10.
Any person violating any provision of this Ordinance shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof in the Corpora-
tion Court of the City of Beaumont shall be fined in any sum not
to exceed One Hundred and 00100 (6100.00) Dollars.

All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby expressly declared to be void and repealed.
Section 11.
The fact that the traffic of motor and horse drawn vehicles
upon and over the streets in the City of Beaumont above described
has become exceedingly congested, endangering public safety in
said City, creates a great public emergency necessitating the
suspension of the rule requiring that all ordinances be read on
three several times before their final passage, and said rule is
hereby suspended and this ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage.
PASSED by an affirmative vote of the City Commission, this
the 154 day of December, A. D. 1942.
