INTEREST AND CREATING A SINKING FUND FOR THE BOND ACCOUNTS THEREIN

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COLIMISSION OF THE CITY OF

Section 1
That the tax of Seventy-nine Cents and Five Mills 0,?95) on
each one hundred dollars valuation of all taxable property within the
limits of the City of Beaumont heretofore levied for interest and
sinking fund accounts, other than school bond accounts, and ordered
collected by an Ordinance passed by the City Commission of the City
of Beaumont on the 19th day of-ugust, 1941, be and the same is hereby
apportioned among the various interest and sinking; funds as follows:

Section 2
That the tax of Twenty-six Cents ($.26) on each one hundred
dollars valuation of all taxable property within the present limits
of the Beaumont Independent School District heretofore levied for
interest and sinking fund accounts and ordered collected by an ordi-
nance passed on the 19th day of august, A. D' 1941, be and the same
is hereby apportioned among the various school bond interest and
sinking funds as follows:

Section 3
That the City Tax Assessor and Collector is hereby instructed
to pro -rate the said sums so assessed according to the provisions of
this Ordinance, and'to so present his statement and report to the
Director of Finance that said officer may be able to place all
collections made under said tax to the credit of the proper fund,
and that the same may not be diverted or used for any other purpose.
Section 4
The fact that no apportionment has been made of the assess-
ments levied to provide for the interest and sinking fund for the
bonded indebtedness of the City of Beaumont, creates an imperative
public emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring
ordinances to be read on three separate meetings before their passage,
wherefore, said rule is hereby suspended and this Ordinance shall
take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publica-
tion.
PASSED this the 19th day of=1ugust-, 1,.D. 1941, by the
affirmative vote of all members of the City Commission.

AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING, ASSESSING AND COLLECTING OF
AD VALOREM AND OTHER TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1941 FOR THE PURPOSE OF
PROVIDING A SINKING FUND TO MEET THE PAYMENT OF ALL BONDED INDEBTED-
NESS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, AND THE PAYMENT OF ACCRUING INTEREST
THEREON; PROVIDING FOR THE SUPPORT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT PUBLIC FREE SCHOOLS; TO PAY THE EXPENSE OF THE DEPARTMENTS
OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT, AS NAMED IN SAID ORDINANCE, AND THE GENERAL
EXPENSE OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT; AND APPORTIONING THE TAXES TO BE
LEVIED TO SUCH DEPARTMENTS AND PURPOSES AS SET FORTH IN SAID
ORDINANCE; PROVIDING -FOR THE PAYMENT OF OCCUPATION TAX; AND DECLAR-
ING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
Section 1
That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be assessed
and collected for the year.1941, for municipal purposes only, an
ad valorem tax of One and 83/100 Dollars (81.83) on each One Hundred
Dollars worth of property located within the present city limits of
the City of Beaumont, made taxable by law, which said taxes when
collected shall be, according to Section 16 of the Charter of the
City of Beaumont, apportioned among the funds and departments of the
city government of the City of Beaumont and for the purposes herein-
after set forth as follows, to -wit:
For the General Fund $ .87

For the purpose of paying the accruing
interest and to provide a sinking fund
for the payment of the entire bonded
indebtedness of the City of Beaumont for_

Section 2
That there shall be and is hereby levied and shall be
assessed and collected for the year 1941, a school maintenance
tax of Sixty Cents (60¢) on each One Hundred Dollars worth of
property lying and. being situated within the present limits of
the Beaumont Independent School District; and there shall be and
is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collected for the year
1941, a tax of Twenty-six Cents (26�) on each One Hundred Dollars
worth of said property to take care of the interest and sinking
fund on the school bonded in'debtednets of the City of Beaumont
within the present limits of the Beaumont Independent School
District.

That there shall be and is hereby levied and there shall
be collected on all occupations and callings on which an occupa-
tion tax is levied by the State of Texas, a sum equal to one-half
of the amount so levied by the State of Texas, on each respective
occupation or calling in the City of Beaumont.
Section 4
There being no Ordinance in effect levying the taxes for the
year 194.1, and the taxes for said year will soon become due and
payable, an immediate public emergency exists, necessitating the
suspension of the rule requiring ordinanees-to be read on three
separate days before passage, wherefore, said rule is hereby sus-
pended and it is enacted that this Ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and publication.
Passed this the 19th day of August, A. D. 1941, by the
affirmative vote of all members of the City Commission.
