ENTITLED THE "ANNUAL APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE" PROVIDING
FOR THE APPROPRIATION AND EXPENDITURE OF THE INCOME AND REVENUE
OF THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE ANNUAL BUDGET HERETOFORE ADOPTED AND APPROVED FOR THE
CURRENT FISCAL YEAR 1940-41, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY C=AISSION OF .THE CITY
OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
Section 1
That there shall be and is hereby appropriated out of the
revenue derived by taxation and from the 1hcome accruing to the
various departments of the government of the City of Beaumont, the
following sums for each department or item for which an appropriation
is required:

Section 2
There being no ordinance in effect making appropriations
for the fiscal year 1940-41, as required by the Charter of the City
of Beaumont, and it being necessary that expenditures be authorized
in accordance with the annual budget, creates an immediate public
emergency necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring
ordinances to be read on three several days before passage, where-
fore, said rule is hereby suspended and it is enacted that this
Ordinance shall be in full Force and effect from and after its_
passage and publication.
Passed by the affirmative vote of all members of the City
Commission, this the 25th day of June,.&.D. 1940.

ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE :ANNUAL APPROPRIATION
ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE APPROPRIATION AND EXPENDITURE OF
.THE INCOME AND REVENUE OF THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY
OF BEAUMONT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE YEAR
1940-41, PASSED ON THE 25th DAY OF JUNE, 1940, BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BEAUIKONT, SAID AMENDMENT PROVIDING
EMERGENCY EXPENDITURES FOR PUBLIC WELFARE AND RELIEF TO MEET
UNUSUAL AND UNFORSEELN CONDITIONS, WHICH COULD NOT BY REASONABLE
DILIGENCE, THOUG]' AND ATTENTION, HAVE BEEN INCLUDED .IN THE
ORIGINAL BUDGET FOR 1940-41, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF'BEAUMONT, TEXAS
Section 1
That there shall be and is hereby appropriated out;of
the revenue derived by taxation and operating income accruing
to the General Fund of the City of Beaumont for emergency
expenditures to meet unusual and unforseen conditions which
could not by reasonable diligence, thought and attention have
been included in the original budget appropriated to said fund
in the amount of $668,412084, the following sum for -which an
appropriation is required:

Section 2
The fact that public welfare and the continuance of work
relief projects sponsored by the Federal Government necessitates
additional expenditures to meet unusual and unforseen conditions,
creates an emergency for the amendment of the 194041 budget,
necessitating the suspension of the rule requiring ordinances to
be read on three separate days before their passage, and said rule
is hereby suspended and this ordinance shall take effect and be
in full force from and after its passage and lawful publication.
