AN ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
CLERK TO CONVEY A CERTAIN TRACT OF LAND IN THE
RHONE ADDITION TO THE CITY OF BEATMkONT, TO THE
HOME O NERS1 LOAN CORPORATION IN EXCHANGE FOR
CERTAIN OTHER PROPERTY NEEDED IAT ORDER TO OPEN
AND EXTEND TEXAS AVENUE, SAID PROPERTY BEING
MORE FULLY DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS, TO -WIT:
A.part of the James Drake Survey in Jeffer-.
son County,.Texas, and being a part of that cer-
tain tract sold by V. A. Collins and J. N. Votaw
to Harriet Rhone by deed dated March 22, 19040
and recorded in Vol. 77, p. 572, etc., of the
Deed Records of Jefferson County, Texas (also
being a part of Lots 7 and 8 of the purported
Rhone Addition to the City of Beaumont, the
dedication and validity of which addition is
not recognized by the Home Owners? Loan Corpora-
tion), which tract herein conveyed is more
particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the northwest. corner of that
certain tract conveyed by Sam White, et ux, to
Gus Bazile by deed dated June 20,, 1921, recorded
in Vol. 206, p. 357 of the Deed Records of
Jefferson County, Texas; thence South 166.5
feet; thence 90 deg. East 15.7 feet for beginning
of the tract herein conveyed; :.:',` thence continuing
East 65.3 feet to an iron pin`flocated on the
line between Lot 7 and Lot 6'of the Rhone Addi-
tion) for second corner; thence South 90 deg.
39.4 feet to an iron pin for corner; thence
West 90 deg. 48.65 feet to an iron pin for
third corner; thence north 26 deg. West 42.72
feet to beginning corner.
By reference to the plat of the Rhone Addi-
tion to the City of Beaumont which -is not recog-
nized by the grantee herein, it is the intention
of the- Cat* of Beaumont to quit claim all its
right, title and interest in and to the alley
appearing on the said plat between Lots 7 and 8
and Lots 6 and 9 as same appear on said plat
and to also quit claim the most northerly 29.4
feet of the east 50 feet of Lot 8 of the Rhone
Addition, all of said property having been
included in the field notes hereinbefore des-
cribed.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COY11ISSION
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the Mayor and the City Clerk be, and they
hereby are authorized and directed to execute a quit claim
deed to the Home Owners' Loan Corporation of the United

States of America covering the above described tract of
land.
Be it further ordained by the City Commission
that said quit claim deed when executed be turned over
to the City Attorney and by him delivered to the Home
Owners' moan Corporation upon receipt of a quit claim
deed from that company to the City of Beaumont covering
the tract of land necessary for the opening of Texas
Avenue.
PASSED by an affirmative vote of the City
Commission, this the day of ,

I, Hugh Blevins, City Clerk of the City of
Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, do hereby certify that
the above and foregoing is a full, true and correct copy
of an ordinance passed by the City Commission of the City
of Beaumont on the 28th day of -May, A. D., 1940, author-
izing the Mayor and City Clerk to convey a certain tract
of land in the Rhone Addition to the City of Beaumont, to
the Home Owners' Loan Corporation in exchange for certain
other property needed in order to open and extend Texas A-
venue, as the same appears of record in Volume 7, page
of the Minutes of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont now
on file in my office, and that I am the lawful possessor and
custodian of -.said record.
Given under my hand and official seal in the of -
five of the City Clerk of the City of Beaumont, Jefferson
County, Texas,- this the 7th day of June, A. D., 1940.
