ChapterP 39 of the Revised code of Ordinances as codified by
idlessrs. ldcDowell and Davidson. and approved by the City Council
of t1r City of Beaumont on the 7th day of February A.D.1911.

SECTION 1.
TIJAT ARTIC.TTIS 821 and 858 of Chapter 39 of the Revised
Code of ordinances as codified. by i,essrs. IddDowell and Davidson
and approved by the City Cniincil of the City of Beaumont, on the
7th day of February A.D.,1911, be amended, so that they shall
hereafter read as follow, to -wit:
ARTICLE 821
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or drive
any ve}21cle on the streets or ways of the City of Beaumont in any
cemetery or place of burial in said city or within any public
parks in said city, at a greater rate of speed than 18,miles per
hour; provided that in turning; any corner at any place within. the
city of Beaumont, the speed shall not exceed 6i miles per hour;
provided, further, that no person in charge of any vehicle upon
any public street or way, within the City of Beaumont, shall drive
at any speed. greater than is reasonable and proper and with due
regard. for the traffic ana ?ase of the public streets os so as to
endanger the life, 7_imb,'or property of --persons thereon. Provided,
that this article shall not apply'to drivers of any vehicle of the
Fire Department and Police Department of the City of Beaumont
when answering calls of said department nor to drivers of ambulances

ARTICLE 858.
PENALTY Any person vitiating -any of the provisions o
of this Chapter shall be deemed guilty of a mididemeanor and upon
conviction thereof in the Corporation Court, shall be fined
in ahy sum not less than five dollars nor more than bale
hundred dollars.
SECTION ISI.
Owing to the fact that the rate of speed.
now provided by the Charter for vehicles within the City
limits is in the case of some vehicles too slow and. because
of this fact great confusion exists in the enforcement of
the law, creates an emeggency and an imperative public
necessity and the rule requiring ordinances to be read on
three spparate meetings be and the same is hereby suspended
and this ordinance shall go' into effect from and after its
passage and lawful publication.
