A N 0 R D I N A N C E. ENTITLED AP,; ORDIKAECE amending rules 16-19--20-21--33 and 35 of an ordinance entitled an ordinance providing rules and. regulations for the construction and house connectionsswith the water and. sever system in the City of Beaumont, Texas, and house plumbing for the government of plumbing of said City of Beaumont and providing penalties for their violation, 'passed by the City Council on the 5th day of July A.D., 1911, and adding thereto rules 32-41- 42 and 43 . BEAUMONT: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SECTION I. THAT RULES 16-19--20-21-31 and 33 Pnd 35 of an Ordinance entitled an ordinance providing rules and regulations for the con- struction and }douse connections with the water and. sewer system in the City of Beaumont, Texas, and. house plumbing for the government of pl»mbing of the City of Beaiunont and providing penalties for thele violation, passed by the City Council on the 5th day of July A.D. 1911 be amended. so that they shall hereafter read as follows: RULE 16. Drains and soil pipes through which water and sevrerage is used and carried shall be of case iron, when with►-�or under a building, and to a distance of five feet outside of the foundation walls thereof. They shall be securely ironed to walls, Maid in trenches of uniform grade, or suspended to floor timbers by strong iron hangers. They shall have proper fall toward sewer. RULE 19. THAT RULES 16-19--20-21-31 and 33 Pnd 35 of an Ordinance entitled an ordinance providing rules and regulations. for the con- struetion and }douse connections with the water and. sewer system in the City of Beaumont, Texas, and house plumbing for the government of plumbing of the City of Beaumont and providing Penalties for thezi-2 violation, passed by the City Council on the 5th day of July A.D. 1911 be amended, so that they shall hereafter read as follows: RULE 16. Drains and. soil pipes through which water and sewerage is used and carried shall be of cast ir:©n, when witl�r�or under a building, and to a distance of five feet outside of the foundation walls thereof. They shall be securely ironed to walls, -laid in trenches of uniform grade, or suspended to floor timbers by strong iron hangers. They shall have proper fall toward sewer. PULE 19. Hand 'Hole openings four inches in diameter shall be provided on all soil, waste or drain ?pipes laid beneath cement, tile and similar floors; said openings to be required. of each branch and bend , and if they do not project above the floor, manhole must be provided in order to give access to same. 14 20 . Changes in direction shall be made with"Y" branches and one --eighth or one -sixteenth bends. Offsets and 90 degrees fittings will not be allov.►ed on any soil, drain or vent pipe, only when permitted by the inspector. Shott Y -Y branches will be7permitted on vertical lines of soil or waste pipe only, but. may be used on horizonital lines of vent -pipes. - RULE 21. Every sewer connection shall have a fresh air inlet not less than four inches internal diameter;* entering the drain between the main trap and all house connections, and- clear.ont on sewer side of trap; provided that the *.paste of kitchen or pantry sinks may be allowed by the inspector to enter sevrer behind the fresh air inlet. RULE 31. .All traps must be protected from siphonage and, back pressure by special vent pipes if said trap is more than 18 inches from the vertical waste pipe. - RULE 33• All vertical pipes must be of lead. or cast iron, joined ' as provided in rule 23, except that in old buildings where gal- vanized iron pipes may be used, there not possible to use cast iron, as heretofore provided, if same is approved by the inspectcr. . RULE 35. The traps of water closets shall be vented by a two inch cast iron vent pipe, except isolated yard water toilets when not within 20 feet of any opening in the biii.lding or the porches of said building, may be vented by a two inch vent stack, where there is only one water closet on a line of soil pipe, no vent pipe is required, providing it is within twv feet of a four -inch vertical stack. Shott X -"Lr branches will be7permitted on vertical lines_ of soil or waste pipe only, but. 11 may be used on horizonital lines of vent pipes. RULE 21. Every sewer connection shall have a fresh air inlet not less than four inches internal diameter, entering the drain between the main trap and all house connections, and cleanout on sewer side of trap; provided that the waste of kitchen or pantry 11 sinks may be allowed by the inspector to enter sewer behind the fresh air inlet. All vertical pipes must be of lead. or cast iron, joined ' as provided in rule 23, except that in old buildings where gal- vanized iron pipes may be used, Where not possible to use cast iron, as heretofore provided, if same is approved by the inspectcr . RULE 35. The traps of water closets shall be vented by a two inch cast iron vent pipe, except isolated yard water toilets when not within 20 feet of any opening in the building or the porches of said building, may be vented by a two inch gent stack, where there is only one water closet on a line of soil pipe, no vent pipe is required, providing it is within tvw feet of a four -inch vertical stack. But where there are two water closets located on the same floor and both are within two feet of the stack, either one of the closets must be vented. Mere two or more closets discharge into the same vertical soil pipe on different floors, a spyaxate vent p4pnection mist be provided for the trap for the lower closets which C? 13 may connect with the soil pipe above the upper water closet. SECTION II. That rules 32-41-42 and 43 be added to and ordinance entitled an ordinance providing rules and regulatd>ons for the construction and house connections with the water and sewer system in the City of Beaumont, Texas, and house plumbing and for the govern- ment of plumbing of the City of Beaumont and providing -nenalties for their violation, passed by the City Council on the 5th day of July A.D.1911, and which shall read as follows: RULE 32 All bath tubs must have lead dTUy,'r,\ trap not under 4 in. x 8 in. in size and with screw clean out cap. RULE 41. No soldered galvanized iron flashing will be allowed, but all soil.or vent pipes passing through roofs must have sheet le.ad or some approved combination lead and iron or lead and copper flashing. RULE 42 Down spouts or conductor pipers, where connected with draingge system of City must have tile traps not less than 4 " in diamelter. RULE 43. All supply pipes must be under ground to fixture, then up to same as near vertical as possible. SECTION III.
