" AN ORDINANCE "
Entitled an Ordinance amdnding section 12 of an Ofdin--
ance entitled 't An Ordinance levying and assessing as a tax upon the
lots, parts of lots, blocks, or tracts of land, where not divided into
lots or blocks, fronting or abutting on Park street from Howie street
to Austin street; Forsythe street from Orleans street to Railroad
avenue; Crpekett street from Neches stree t to Jefferson street;
Washington street from Pearl street to Park street; Railroad avenue
from College street to Forsythe street; Liilam street from Pearl street
to Park street; Janes street from Laurel street to Liberty avenue;
Broadway avenue from Gulf street to"1rst street and Liberty Avenue
from Gulf street to First street for two-thirds ( 2/3) of tl-L- cost of
paving and all of the cost of curbing said Park street from Bowie
street to Austin street; Forsythe street from Orleans street to Rail-
road avenue; Crockett street from Neches street to Jefferson street;
Washington street from Pearl street to Park street; R§ilroad Avenue
from College street to Forsythe street; Milan street from Pearl street
to Park street; Janes street from Laurel street to Liberty avenue;
Broadway Avenue from Gulf street to First street, and Liberty avenue
from GVLlf street to First street and declaring said tag a lien upon
said property and a personal charge upon the owner or owners thereof
and providing a time when said tax shall become due and payable, "
passed the 21st day of May, A.D. 1912 by the City Council of the City
of Beaumont •
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
SECTION I.- That section 12 of an Ordinance entitled " An Ordinance
levying and assessing as a tax upon the lots, parts of lots, blocks
or tracts of land, where not divided into lots or blocks, fronting or
abutting on Park street frora Bowie street to Austin street; Forsythe
lots or blocks, fronting or abutting on Park street from Bowie street
to Austin street; Forsythe street from Orleans street to Railroad
avenue; Crpekett street from Neches stree t to Jefferson street;
Washington street from Peary street to Park street; Railroad avenue
from College street to Forsythe street; Hilam street from Pearl street
to Park street; Janes street from Laurel street to Liberty avenue;

claring said tax a lien upon said property and a personal charge upon
the owner or owners thereof and providing a time when said tax shall
become due and payable!" passed by the City Council of the City of
Beeumont on the Mt day of May, A.D. 1912, be amended so as to here-
after read as follow, to -wit:
" SECTIOH 12 - That the amounts hawlevied and
assessed together with the cost of collecting same is hereby declared
a lien against the said lots, parts of lots, blocks or tracts of land
and a special tax against and a lien on&road bed, ties, rails, fixtures -v
rights, and franchises of the Beaumont Traction Company, Texas and
New Orleans by(j, Company , Texarkana and Fort Smith Ry., Company,'

Fe Ry., Company , and the owner or owners of each respective
railroad, and shall be a personal charge or claim against the
owner or owners of the lots, parts of lots, blocks and tracts of
land upon which assessments are made as hereinbefore set forth. "
SECTION 2 - WHEREAS , in passing the Ordinance
levying the assessments, an error was made therein and an emergency
has arisen for the passage of this Ordinance therefore the rule
requiring Ordinances to be read at three separate meetings , be and
the same is hereby suspended, and this Ordinance :.Shall take dffect�end
be in ful,l farce from and after its passage and lawful publication.
