Entitled an ordinance ordering an election to be
held in the City of Beaumont to determine if bonds of said
City.shall be issued for the purpose of making certain public
improvements, naming the time and places of holding said .elec-
tion, and appointing officers thereof, and providing for the -
manner of holding said election, and the giving of notice
thereof.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:

That an election be held in the City of Beaumont,
Texas, on the 20 day of A. D. 191a at which
election the -following propositions shall. be submitted:
II.
First. Shall the City Council of the City of
Beaumont be authorized to issue bonds of said City, herein-
after designated as Sewer Bonds in the sum of Thirty Thousand
($30,000.00) Dollars, payable forty years after date with the
option of redeeming same at any time after twenty years from
date, bearing interest at the rate of five (5%) per cent per
annum, payable semi-annually, and to levy a tax sufficient
to pay the interest on said bonds and create a sinking fund
sufficient to redeem -same at maturity for the purpose of con-
structing public sewers and necessary laterals within the
Ci ty of Beaumont.
III.
Second. Shall the City Council of the -City of
Beaumont be authorized to issue the bonds of said city, here-
inafter designated as Street Improvement and Repair Bonds
in the sum of Sixty Thousand ($60,000.00) Dollars, payable
forty years after date with the option of redeeming same at
any time after twenty years from date., bearing interest at
the rate of five.(5%) per cent per m nuns, payable semi-
annually and to levy a tax sufficient to pay the interest on
saki bonds and to create a sinking fund sufficient to re-
deem same at maturity, for the purpose of permanent street
improvements and repairs.

Third. Shall the City Coum it of the Ci tat of
Beaumont be authorized to issue bonds of said City, herein-
after designated as Park Bonds in the sum of Sixty Thousand
(60,000.00) Dollars, payable forty years after date with
the option of redeeming same at any time after twenty years
from date, -bearing interest at the rate of five (5%) per cent
per annum, payable,semi-annually and to levy a tax sufficient
to pay the inte rest on...said_.bonds and to create a sinking
fund sufficient to redeem".same at maturity, for the purpose
of acquiring and improving lands for public parks, either
within the limits of the City of Beaumont or without the limits
of the City of Beaumont.
V.
The said election shall be held at the following
places, to -wit:
In the First -Ward at the Central Fire Station.
In the Second Ward at the City Hall.
In the Third Ward at the Jefferson County Court House,

That the following named persons.are appointed of-
ficers of said election::
In the First Ward:
In the Second Ward:
In the Third Ward:

That said -election shall be held under the provisions
of the State law governing elections, and only qualified voters
who are property tax payers of the said City of Beaumont shall
be allowed.to vote, and all voters desiring to support the
proposition to issue Serer Bonds shall have printed on their
ballots the words "For the issuance of Sewer.Bonds", and those
opposed to the issuance of Sewer Bonds shall have printed on
their ballots the words "Against the issuance of Sewer Bonds";
and those desiring to suUport the nronosition to issue Street
Improvement and Repair Bonds shall have printed on their
ballots the words "For the issuance of Street Improve and
Repair Bonds", and those opposed to the issuance of Street
Improvement and Repair Bonds shall have printed on their
ballots the words "Against the issuance of Street Improvement
and Repair Bonds"; and those desiring to support the pro-
position to issue Park Bonds shall have printed.on their bal-
lots the words "For the issuance of Park Bonds", and those
opposed to the --issuance of Park Bonds shat 1 have printed on
their ballots the words "Agaim t the issuance of Park Bonds"..
VIII.
That a copy of this ordinance signed by the Mayor
of the City of Beaumont and attested by the City Secretary
of the City of Beaumont shall .serve as proper. notice of said
election, and the Mayor is directed to cause said notices
to be posted up at each of the places designated for holding
said election at least thirty (30) days prior to the date
of said election„

This ordinance shall go into force and effect
from and after its passage, approval by the Mayor -and lawful
publication.

We, your Board of Public Works, to whom
was referred.an ordinance ordering an election for the
purpose of m king certain public improvements entitled
"An ordinance ordering an election to be held in the
City of Beaumont, to determine if bonds of said City shall bei
issued for the purpose of making certain public improvements,
naming the time and places of holding said election, and
appointing officers thereof, and providing for the manner of
holding. said election, and the giving of notice thereof"a
the public improvements proposed being , in substance as fol -
loves: Constructing public seaters and necessary laterals within
the City, f:or-_the purpose of permanent street improvements
and repairs and for the purpose of Laequi?iag and improving' -
lands for public parka, either within or without the limits
of the City of Beaumont, beg to report as follows: we have
investigated this matter and are familiar wi-th the -improve-
ments proposed, and recommend that such improvements be made,
and that the election be held as in the order provided.

we, .your Ordinance committee, to whom was re-
ferred the attached ordinance relative to an election to
be held in the. City of Beaumont to determine if bonds of
said City shall be issued for the purpose of making certain
public improvements, etc., to -wit,, Sewer Bonds, Street Im-
provement and Repair Bonds, and Park Bonds, beg .to report
that after careful consideration, we'recommend that same
be passed.
