Entitled an ordinance to amend Article 26,
Chapter 8 of the revised code of Ordinances as codified
by 1,Iessrs-LicDowell and Davidson, and adopted by the
City Council on the 7th -day of Feb. A.D.1911, and
declaring an emergency.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COU_,'CII, OF THE CITY OF BEAU1,10VIT
Section 1
That article 26, Chapter 8 of the Revised
Code of `Jrdi.nance as codified by LT.essrs-McPowel and
Davidson, and adopted by the City Council Feb.7th,
1911 be amended. so that said r=.rticle shall read here-
after<.as follows:
Article 26: Suspension'ox Discharge. Any
policeman of the City of Jeaumont now or hereafter appointed y
may be duscharged or suspended by the Idayor or the Chief
of Police upon the Illayor o -"Chief of Police filing with
the City Council in writing his :reason therefor. In the
event that the Idayor or Chief of Police has suspended
or discharged any policeman for any cause and has
reported same together with his reasons therefor to
the City Council, the City Council shall thereupon
approve or disapprove the action of th I,Iayor o:rChief
of Police.

All Ordi Dances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby -specifically repealed.
Section 3.
The fact that the Chief of Police has no

That article 26, Chapter 8 of the Revised
Code of `Jrdinances as codified by Massrs-ldcDowel__ and
Davidson, and adopted by the City Council Feb.7th,
1911 be amended so that said article shall read here-
after�,as follows:
Article 26: Suspension or Discharge. Any
policeman of the City of t.eaumont now or hereafter appointed X
may be duscharged or suspended by the Mayor or the Chief
of Police upon the Mayor o -"Chief of Police filing with
the City Council in writing his reason therefor. In the
event that the Ijiayor or Chief of Police has suspended
or discharged any policeman for any cause and has
reported same together with his reasons therefor to
the City Council, the City Council shall thereupon
approve or disapprove the action of th Kayor o:rChief
of Police.
Section 2.
All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby specifically repealed.
Section 3.
The fact that the Chief of Police has no
authority to suspend or discharge r member of the Police.
Force and. the fact that it is necessary for him in his
control of said department to have such authority, creates
a piiblic emergency and imperative public necessity that
the rules requiring ordinances to be read at three

separate meetings, be saspended. Said dile is hereby
suspended and this ordinance shall be placed on its
third and final reading and shall go into force and
ef±"ect from and after its Massage, sigiz-Aure of rhe. Idayor,
