CHAPTER 45 OF AN ORDINANCE DEFINING THE STOCK LIMITS OF _THE
REVISED ORDINANIES OF THE CTTY OF REAUMONT. ►r
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIFF CITY OF BEAUMONT:
ART. 526. APPOINTMENT OF STOCK POLICEMEN.
it shall be the duty of the Mayor to appoint one or more
persons to be known as stock policemen of the city of Peaumont,
vthose salaries shall be fixed .from time to time by the City Council,
who shall serve in the capacity of a regular policeman, and who
shall cause all horses, mules, jacks, jennets, cattle, sheep,
goats, hogs and -geese found running at large in the City limits
named in Article No. 523 of this Chapter and contrary to the articles
of this Chapter, to be gathered and impounded in the public pound.
And the said stock policemen who shall have impounded 44 --said
stock shall proceed to sell the same at public auction for cash,
after first giving three days public notice of the time and place
of sale by posting up written or printed notices of such taking up,
penning and the time, terms and place of sale in tiuo public places
1,vithin such territory, to wit: one at, -the County Court House, and
the other at the Post, Office, describing the animals impounded, and
after deducting all expenses of taking up and keeping such animal
or animals, and a fee for each animal irapotznded of $U.00 -said
stockstock policeman, shall pay the residue, if any, to the owner, if
known, and if not known, to the City Treasurer, taking a receipt
therefor, and shall r:lake a bill of sale for the animal or animals
so sold to the purchaser thereof; and said stock policemen shall
return over all fees collected by them from the, impounding of all
xXimx2 stock of whatsoever kind to the City Treasurer, taking his
receipt for same, and_.make a monthly report to the City Council of

That all Ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage and approval by the Mayor.
